The Vincennes University men's and women's Cross Country teams are coming off of excellent showings at the NJCAA Region 24 meet this past Saturday, with each team finishing as the Regional runner-up, with sophomore Meagan Moreno and freshman Trenton Faulkner taking home the Division I individual championships.
Following that performance however, the Trailblazers slid in both polls as the women's team still holds a spot in the top-10 at No. 10 and the men's team falls to No. 18 in the penultimate NJCAA Division I USTFCCCA National Coaches Poll.
The VU women's team was led this past Saturday by a one-two finish out of Meagan Moreno and Kyra Young, each finishing nearly a minute ahead of the third-place runner, followed by Kaylee Lange, Jacy Collins and Kaitlyn Koenig, who all placed in the top 18 of runners.
Vincennes' men's team was led by Vincennes native Trenton Faulkner, who was running at his former high school of South Knox Saturday.
Faulkner was followed closely by Nick Vogt, Walter Tanui, Gavyn Mundt and Joshua Hodge, who's placements helped propel the Blazers into a second-place finish in the Region 24 meet.
Vincennes is now preparing for the NJCAA Division I men's and women's Cross Country National Championships on Sat. Nov. 14 at Iowa Central Community College in Fort Dodge, IA. Followed by the Half-Marathon National Championships Tue. Nov. 17.
