  • VU’s Sophia Salvi claims third straight Pole Vault National Championship

    LUBBOCK, Tex. – Vincennes University sophomore Sophia Salvi (Sao Paulo, Brazil) claimed her third straight Pole Vault National Championship over the weekend at the 2025 NJCAA Indoor National Championships in Lubbock, Tex. Salvi paced the field to defend her title after clearing a height of 4.15 meters, setting a new Personal Best. Salvi’s Championship gave the Vincennes University Women’s team 10 points for the meet, allowing the Trailblazers to claim 17th place overall as a team over the weekend.
  • VU Track and Field close out 2025 Indoor regular season at John Gartland Invitational

    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Vincennes University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams put the finishing touches on the 2025 Indoor regular season Saturday at the 2025 John Gartland Invitational hosted by Indiana State University in Terre Haute. The VU Men’s Track team was highlighted by sophomore Malik Ferdinand (Kingstown, St. Vincent and the Grenadines) who finished second overall in the 400 meter dash against another stacked field against NCAA Division I runners, with a time of 50.63 seconds. Sophomore Zion Pruitt (Avon, Ind.) joined Ferdinand in the top five in the 400 meters with a final time of 51.42 seconds.
  • Trailblazer Track and Field tops another school record at GVSU Big Meet

    ALLENDALE, Mich. – The Vincennes University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams continue to rewrite the VU school record books this season as another Trailblazer record was topped this weekend at the Grand Valley State University Big Meet in Michigan. The two day meet began Friday afternoon with Vincennes setting the tone early for the weekend as sophomore Cody Noel (Hebron, Ind.) began the weekend in the 5000m with a fourth-place finish with a time of 15:28.00. Freshmen Lane Connaway (Carmi, Ill.) and Jeremy Mendez (Velpen, Ind.) also competed in the 5000 meters Friday but ran in different sections of the race, with Connaway posting a time of 16:27.73 to take 20th and Mendez ending at 16:36.83 to take 22nd.
  • Abdaoui sets school record, Trailblazers add National qualifiers at Eastern Indoor meet

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams headed back to Louisville, Ky. Friday morning for the Eastern Indoor Collegiate meet. The Blazers had another great showing in Louisville this week, surpassing several PRs, adding even more National Qualifiers and once again rewriting the VU record books. Vincennes freshman Anis Abdaoui (Kairouan, Tunisia) set a new VU Track and Field school record Friday morning in the 800 meters with a time of 1:52.96, placing him second in the meet.
  • Trailblazer Track and Field faces tough competition at PNC Lenny Lyles

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams were once again in action this weekend as VU headed back to Louisville, Ky. for the two-day PNC Lenny Lyles Invitational hosted by the University of Louisville. The Trailblazers faced some very tough competition Friday and Saturday in Louisville, going up against several NCAA Division I athletes including athletes from traditional Track and Field powers like University of Miami (FL) and Florida State University. The VU athletes held their own over the two day event and were able to put together some solid times and continue to show improvement early in the Indoor season.
  • Ladipo sets school record for Blazers at PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Men’s and Women’s Track and Field teams had another successful day Friday down in Louisville, Ky. at the 2025 PNC Bank Bellarmine Classic. VU sophomore Olamipo Ladipo (Sao Paulo, Brazil) set a new school record for Vincennes University, while the Trailblazers also picked up a pair of NJCAA National Qualifiers during the meet. Vincennes was obviously headlined on the day by Ladipo who set a new school record in the 200 meter dash with a time of 21.63 seconds and also pulled double duty on the day to take first place in the 400 meters, finishing a full second ahead of the next runner with a time of 48.70.
  • Trailblazers Track and Field open 2025 Indoor season strong at Bellarmine Open

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Track and Field team opened their 2025 Indoor season Friday at the 2025 Bellarmine Open in Louisville. The Blazers got the season off to a very strong start, notching three NJCAA National qualifiers in their first meet and built a great foundation for the rest of the season. The VU men’s team was led on the day by an outstanding performance by freshman Anis Abdaoui (Kairouan, Tunisia) who picked up a third place finish in the 3000 meters, facing several NCAA Division I runners with an impressive NJCAA Nationals qualifying time of 8:27.21
  • VU welcomes new Director of Athletics John Meeks

    VINCENNES, Ind. - John Meeks, an experienced athletics administrator with an academic ethos, is the new Vincennes University Director of Athletics. VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson proudly announced the appointment of Meeks on Wednesday, August 21, during a VU Board of Trustees meeting.  Meeks is a former college basketball coach currently serving as the Director of Athletics at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington. He will begin his role leading VU Athletics on Monday, Sept. 9.
  • VU Golf and Volleyball honored as 31 Blazers earn NJCAA All-Academic honors

    CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2023-24 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic awards were announced Thursday, with Vincennes University well represented. First came the announcement of the 2023-24 Academic Teams of the Year, with teams needing to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better to be honored. Nearly 1,200 teams were named across the NJCAA members colleges and sports, with Vincennes University being named twice.
