SMYRNA, Tenn. – The 2024-25 Vincennes University Bowling season came to a close over the weekend at the 2025 United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Sectional Championships in Smyrna, Tenn. The busy bowling weekend began Friday with the Singles Championships, consisting of six traditional games. Sophomore Dakota Waskom (Louisville, Ky.) paced the Trailblazers Friday in the singles competition, finishing his six games with 1,255 pins to take 50th overall.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s bowling team once again qualified this season for the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Sectional Championships. The Trailblazers will be headed back to Smyrna, Tenn. and the Smyrna Bowling Center where they will compete for a spot in the USBC National Championships. The 2025 USBC Sectional Championships will begin Friday, March 7 with the Intercollegiate Singles Championship (ISC), where members of the VU bowling team will compete in six traditional games, with 24 bowlers advancing to the 2025 ISC Finals. The top four bowlers from each of the four Sectional Championships will qualify plus an additional eight individuals based on field size.

FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Vincennes University Bowling team finished their 2024-25 regular season over the weekend with a very nice showing in the 2025 McKendree Baker Challenge hosted by McKendree University. The unique two-day tournament consisted of 40 baker games broken down into 10 sets of four baker games. The Trailblazers closed out the regular season strong with a sixth place finish in the tournament.

JEFFERSONTOWN, Ky. – The Vincennes University Bowling team was back in action this past weekend as they took part in the weekend double feature of the MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial tournament Saturday and the MSC Thomas N. Burris Memorial tournament Sunday in Jeffersontown, Ky. The VU bowlers looked to get back into competitive mode with the VU Varsity team taking 12th place on Saturday and placing 11th on Sunday. The Trailblazer varsity bowlers were headlined Saturday by freshman Colton Martin (Breese, Ill.) who placed 58th overall with a tournament total of 767 pins in four games.

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Vincennes University Bowling team closed out the 2024 portion of their schedule this past weekend with a strong showing at the fourth American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) tournament of the year. The Trailblazers as a team placed third overall after the one day tournament consisting of four individual games and 10 baker games this past Saturday. Vincennes was led in the individual games by another outstanding tournament by sophomore Dakota Waskom (Louisville, Ky.) who finished the games with a total of 850 pins, including a team-leading game of 264 to finish 11th overall.

ST. CLAIR, Ill. – The Vincennes University Bowling team was back in action over the weekend as the Trailblazers headed to St. Clair, Ill. to take part in the 2024 National Collegiate Team Match Games hosted by McKendree University. The weekend tournament began Saturday with five traditional team games where the Blazers were paced by sophomore Dakota Waskom (Louisville, Ky.) Waskom put together five really solid games to lead the Blazers, finishing with a total of 1,017 pins, including a team-leading game of 265 to finish 49th overall on the individual leaderboard.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The 20-time NJCAA National Champion Vincennes University Bowling program is set to rejoin the National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) starting in the 2025-2026 academic year. The Trailblazer bowling program will continue competing in the United States Bowling Congress (USBC) and will be able to compete for both NJCAA and USBC National Championships. Vincennes University Bowling rejoins the National Junior College Athletic Association after leaving the NJCAA after the 2013-2014 season.

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The Vincennes University Bowling season continues to roll on as the Trailblazers headed to Indianapolis this past weekend to take part in the Western 300 Shootout. The two-day tournament consisted of six traditional games on Saturday, followed by 16 baker games on Sunday. The Trailblazers were led by freshman Ryan Webber (Evansville, Ind.) who came away with a big Top 10 finish for the tournament, finishing the six traditional games with a total of 1350 pins and a team leading game of 278 to close out the first day of competition and finish ninth overall.

WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Vincennes University Bowling season rolled on over the weekend as the Trailblazers headed up to Wisconsin for the 2024 Midwest Collegiate Championships Saturday and Sunday. Vincennes came away with a 34th place finish in a loaded field after five traditional games Saturday and 16 baker games on Sunday. The Trailblazers were led in the traditional games by sophomore Dakota Waskom (Louisville, Ky.) who finished with a total of 1,082 pins, including a team-leading game of 262 to begin the weekend and would place 26th overall.

JACKSON, Mich. – The Vincennes University Bowling team had a great start to their 2024-25 season this past Saturday at the annual Dirty Bird Classic hosted by Concordia University in Michigan. The Trailblazers took second place as a team in the tournament, posting a team score of 2803 in three traditional games and a total of 1899 pins in 10 Baker games. Vincennes was led by sophomore Dakota Waskom (Louisville, Ky.) who got the season started with a bang, posting the best game score of the tournament with a 247 in his first game.

VU welcomes new Director of Athletics John Meeks

VINCENNES, Ind. - John Meeks, an experienced athletics administrator with an academic ethos, is the new Vincennes University Director of Athletics. VU President Dr. Chuck Johnson proudly announced the appointment of Meeks on Wednesday, August 21, during a VU Board of Trustees meeting.  Meeks is a former college basketball coach currently serving as the Director of Athletics at Big Bend Community College in Moses Lake, Washington. He will begin his role leading VU Athletics on Monday, Sept. 9.

CHARLOTTE, N.C. – The 2023-24 National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) Academic awards were announced Thursday, with Vincennes University well represented. First came the announcement of the 2023-24 Academic Teams of the Year, with teams needing to hold a cumulative GPA of 3.0 or better to be honored. Nearly 1,200 teams were named across the NJCAA members colleges and sports, with Vincennes University being named twice.
