VINCENNES, Ind. – Four members of the 2024 NJCAA Division I Region 24 Champion Vincennes University volleyball team earned All-Region 24 honors earlier this week. Trailblazer sophomores Isadora Dias (Rio Grande de Norte, Brazil), Elisa Dalla Pozza (Vincenza, Italy), Laura Tavares (Merida, Venezuela) and Libby Mehringer (Jasper, Ind.) all closed out the VU careers by earning All-Region 24 honors, including Dias earned 2024 NJCAA Division I Region 24 Player of the Year honors. Dias had a breakout year for the Trailblazers, serving as a constant fixture on the court for the Blue and Gold this season.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The four-time defending Region 24 champion Vincennes University volleyball team had their season come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers fell in five sets to Jefferson College in the NJCAA Division I Midwest District A Semifinals 25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 25-12, 13-15. Vincennes got the match started off to a hot start after a back-and-forth start to the opening set, VU was able to put their game into overdrive down the stretch and close out set one by outscoring the Vikings 12-2 to take set one 25-15 and gain the early 1-0 match advantage.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team captured their fourth straight Region 24 title Sunday evening at the 2024 NJCAA Division I Region 24 Championships hosted by John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. The No. 2 seed Trailblazers defeated No. 4 seed Southwestern Illinois College 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21 to secure VU’s fourth consecutive Championship and earn a bye in next weekend’s NJCAA Division I Midwest District Championships. The Trailblazers got the day started off great, breaking away in the first set with a 9-2 scoring run to take a 17-10 lead.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 2 seed Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team continued their postseason run Saturday evening in the NJCAA Division I Region 24 Semi-finals where they faced off against No. 3 seed and host John A. Logan College. The Trailblazers overcame some big deficits to battle back and come away with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-16 three set sweep over the Volunteers to advance to the Region 24 Championship match Sunday evening. This match was very evenly fought right from the beginning, with Vincennes grabbing the early momentum with a 6-1 scoring run before the Volunteers shifted the game back to their side with seven unanswered to take a 17-12 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team faces another packed weekend of games this weekend as the Blazers open Friday night with a Region 24 showdown against Frontier Community College. The Blazers came away with the convincing sweep over the Bobcats 25-7, 25-15, 25-16 inside the Physical Education Complex. Vincennes opened the match with a very strong opening set, building an early lead with a trio of 3-0 scoring runs before putting the set away by outscoring Frontier C.C. 13-1 to take set one 25-7 and gain the early 1-0 match lead.

The Trailblazers faced a tough test against the host Warriors but came out with the four-set victory 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-23. VU entered the game short-handed again with sophomore libero Grace Flexter (Oblong, Ill.) being inactive for the game, turning the libero position over to freshmen Ashley Earp (Mattoon, Ill.) and Julianna Rettig (Antioch, Ill.).

PARK HILLS, Mo. – The Vincennes University volleyball team faced a very tough test Saturday afternoon on the final day of the 2024 Mineral Area College Cardinal Classic, facing two Top 15 ranked teams back to back. VU began their day against No. 15 Indian Hills Community College from Iowa, falling 19-25, 25-27, 18-25 and closed out the weekend tournament against No. 13 Missouri State University-West Plains falling 23-25, 15-25, 14-25. The Trailblazers returned to the court Saturday afternoon at Mineral Area College and began their day with a rematch of last year’s District Championship game against No. 15-ranked Indian Hills Community College.

The Blazers took their first game of the day against Hutchinson Community College in Kansas 20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 15-12 before falling in game two of the day to host Mineral Area College 11-25, 15-25, 11-25. Vincennes opened their day against Hutchinson Community College and this match was very even right from the beginning.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team picked up their 20th win of the season Tuesday night as the Blazers headed to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. for a Region 24 showdown with the Volunteers. Vincennes was able to come out on top in this match between the two teams currently at the top of the Region 24 standings, taking the match in four sets 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17. The match was very close from the very beginning as the two teams traded early runs in the opening set before the Blazers were able to rally from behind with a 9-1 scoring run to take an 18-14 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball returned home Friday night for the first time in two weeks and treated the fans to a very exciting Region 24 showdown with John A. Logan College. Unfortunately for the Trailblazers, VU came out on the wrong end of Friday night’s match, falling to the Volunteers 22-25, 25-20, 25-11, 23-25, 10-15. The match got off to an excellent start for the Blazers, quickly building an early 14-8 lead over John A. Logan in the first set.

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team had their Region 24 winning streak snapped Tuesday night when the Blazers fell in four sets at Kaskaskia College. The Blue Angels ended the VU winning streak at 44 matches as Vincennes fell 14-25, 25-18, 20-25, 17-25. The match started out well for the Trailblazers, building a quick 10-7 lead over Kaskaskia, before the Blue Angels used a pair of big scoring runs to pull away late in the opening set and take set one 25-14 over Vincennes.

MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team faced a very tough test Tuesday night when they headed to Mattoon to take on a Lake Land College team who entered the night with an unbeaten 10-0 record. The Blazers were able to keep their composure on the road and come away with the win 25-17, 23-25, 25-22, 25-17, extending VU’s Region 24 winning streak to 44 matches. Vincennes got off to an excellent start in the opening set, quickly building an 8-4 lead before extending the advantage to 22-13.

Vincennes began the day in a very tight contest with an evenly matched Mott Community College.

The Blazers got the day start out right with the first game of the day against Southwestern Michigan, after the Roadrunners got the first point of the match, VU answered by going on a big 11-0 scoring run with three aces by sophomore Libby Mehringer (Jasper, Ind.).

The Trailblazers played host to Region 24 opponent Shawnee Community College for a Region 24 doubleheader against the Saints Saturday afternoon. VU has gotten off to an excellent start to the season, improving to 3-0 on the year and winning all nine sets played after defeating the Saints 25-8, 25-18, 25-15 in match one and 25-11, 25-11, 25-6 in match two.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The three-time defending Region 24 Champion Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team opened their 2024 regular season Thursday night in the Physical Education Complex in style by winning over Wabash Valley College 25-11, 25-8, 25-14. The win extends VU’s winning streak over Region 24 opponents to 39 matches. Vincennes opened the season strong in the first set, scoring six of the first seven points to grab an early lead before extending their lead to 13-5 midway through the set.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Fall 2024 Vincennes University Volleyball season is set to begin Thursday, Aug. 22 when the Trailblazers open the season at the Physical Education Complex against Wabash Valley College. This is the first of three straight Region 24 games for the Blazers to begin the season as VU looks to claim their fourth straight Region 24 Championship, while also entering the season with a 38 game winning streak against Region 24 opponents. “We are definitely still a work in progress,” VUVB Head Coach Gary Sien said. “We have a lot of newcomers in key positions and just like every other year it’s a whole new team and it’s a really challenging situation. I cannot think of a more challenging position than to play or coach a fall sport at a two year college. We have two or three weeks maximum to get ready for our first regular season game and we’re going over systems and techniques that they have possibly never gone over before.”
