VINCENNES, Ind. – The four-time defending Region 24 champion Vincennes University volleyball team had their season come to an abrupt end Saturday afternoon. The Trailblazers fell in five sets to Jefferson College in the NJCAA Division I Midwest District A Semifinals 25-15, 23-25, 23-25, 25-12, 13-15. Vincennes got the match started off to a hot start after a back-and-forth start to the opening set, VU was able to put their game into overdrive down the stretch and close out set one by outscoring the Vikings 12-2 to take set one 25-15 and gain the early 1-0 match advantage.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team captured their fourth straight Region 24 title Sunday evening at the 2024 NJCAA Division I Region 24 Championships hosted by John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. The No. 2 seed Trailblazers defeated No. 4 seed Southwestern Illinois College 25-18, 25-16, 23-25, 25-21 to secure VU’s fourth consecutive Championship and earn a bye in next weekend’s NJCAA Division I Midwest District Championships. The Trailblazers got the day started off great, breaking away in the first set with a 9-2 scoring run to take a 17-10 lead.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The No. 2 seed Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team continued their postseason run Saturday evening in the NJCAA Division I Region 24 Semi-finals where they faced off against No. 3 seed and host John A. Logan College. The Trailblazers overcame some big deficits to battle back and come away with a 25-22, 25-22, 25-16 three set sweep over the Volunteers to advance to the Region 24 Championship match Sunday evening. This match was very evenly fought right from the beginning, with Vincennes grabbing the early momentum with a 6-1 scoring run before the Volunteers shifted the game back to their side with seven unanswered to take a 17-12 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team opened their 2024 postseason Wednesday night inside the Physical Education Complex. The Trailblazers earned the No. 2 seed in this year’s NJCAA Division I Region 24 tournament and began their tournament against No. 7 seeded Kaskaskia College from Centralia, Ill. VU overcame a slow start in set one to close out the quarterfinal matchup with a 25-18, 25-12, 25-13 sweep over the Blue Angels.

ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball hit the road for the final time in the 2024 regular season Friday night as the Blazers made the short trip up to Robinson to face off against Region 24 rival Lincoln Trail College. VU needed four sets but were able to come out on top of the host Statesmen 25-22, 25-12, 23-25, 25-17. The Blazers got off to a quick start Friday night, building an early 10-5 advantage in set one.

HARRISBURG, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team opened the final week of the 2024 regular season Tuesday night with a strong three set sweep over Region 24 opponent Southeastern Illinois College. The Blazers were led by sophomore Isadora Dias (Rio Grande de Norte, Brazil) who’s 16 kills and seven digs guided VU to a 25-12, 25-12, 25-17 victory over the Falcons. Vincennes got off to an excellent start to the match, quickly building a 10-4 advantage after a 5-0 scoring run.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team concluded their busy weekend slate of Region 24 matches Saturday afternoon, hosting Lake Land College from Mattoon, Ill. and Southeastern Illinois College from Harrisburg, Ill. for a Region 24 tri-match inside the P.E. Complex. The Trailblazers opened the day against Lake Land College and came out on the wrong end of a 22-25, 23-25, 24-26 final. VU then turned around and played their third Region 24 match in under 24 hours against Southeastern Illinois College, taking the three set sweep 25-15, 25-18, 25-22 over the Falcons.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team faces another packed weekend of games this weekend as the Blazers open Friday night with a Region 24 showdown against Frontier Community College. The Blazers came away with the convincing sweep over the Bobcats 25-7, 25-15, 25-16 inside the Physical Education Complex. Vincennes opened the match with a very strong opening set, building an early lead with a trio of 3-0 scoring runs before putting the set away by outscoring Frontier C.C. 13-1 to take set one 25-7 and gain the early 1-0 match lead.

MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball hit the road Tuesday night to take on Region 24 rival Wabash Valley College in Mt. Carmel, Ill. The Trailblazers faced a tough test against the host Warriors but came out with the four-set victory 25-22, 25-21, 24-26, 25-23. VU entered the game short-handed again with sophomore libero Grace Flexter (Oblong, Ill.) being inactive for the game, turning the libero position over to freshmen Ashley Earp (Mattoon, Ill.) and Julianna Rettig (Antioch, Ill.).

PARK HILLS, Mo. – The Vincennes University volleyball team faced a very tough test Saturday afternoon on the final day of the 2024 Mineral Area College Cardinal Classic, facing two Top 15 ranked teams back to back. VU began their day against No. 15 Indian Hills Community College from Iowa, falling 19-25, 25-27, 18-25 and closed out the weekend tournament against No. 13 Missouri State University-West Plains falling 23-25, 15-25, 14-25. The Trailblazers returned to the court Saturday afternoon at Mineral Area College and began their day with a rematch of last year’s District Championship game against No. 15-ranked Indian Hills Community College.

PARK HILLS, Mo. – The Vincennes University volleyball team opened a very tough weekend tournament Friday evening and split their first two games of this four-game weekend at the 2024 Mineral Area College Cardinal Classic in Missouri. The Blazers took their first game of the day against Hutchinson Community College in Kansas 20-25, 25-21, 18-25, 25-21, 15-12 before falling in game two of the day to host Mineral Area College 11-25, 15-25, 11-25. Vincennes opened their day against Hutchinson Community College and this match was very even right from the beginning.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team picked up their 20th win of the season Tuesday night as the Blazers headed to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. for a Region 24 showdown with the Volunteers. Vincennes was able to come out on top in this match between the two teams currently at the top of the Region 24 standings, taking the match in four sets 25-22, 17-25, 25-21, 25-17. The match was very close from the very beginning as the two teams traded early runs in the opening set before the Blazers were able to rally from behind with a 9-1 scoring run to take an 18-14 lead.

VU began the day with a three-set sweep over St. Louis Community College 25-19, 25-13, 25-18 before closing out the tournament with a sweep over Calhoun Community College 25-11, 25-18, 25-14. Vincennes got the morning started off strong against St. Louis C.C., scoring the first six points of the match to open an early lead.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team got back in the win column Saturday evening with a two game split at the 2024 Parkland College Fall Challenge in Champaign. The Blazers fell in their opening game of the day to NJCAA Division II No. 5-ranked Heartland Community College 20-25, 21-25, 13-25 before closing out the weekend strong with a sweep over Lincoln Land Community College 26-24, 26-24, 25-15. Vincennes opened the day with a very tough test against a top five nationally ranked Heartland C.C. squad.

HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Vincennes University volleyball team improved their winning streak to eight matches Saturday afternoon after closing out the final day of the 2024 Wallace State C.C. Fall Bash in Alabama. Vincennes opened the day against host Wallace State, winning over the Lions 25-21, 25-21, 25-19 before closing out the weekend with a big sweep over Lawson State Community College 25-4, 25-14, 25-15 to finish with a 4-0 record over the weekend. The Trailblazers began the day with a tough challenge against host Wallace State Community College, taking the court around 12 hours after their last match Friday night ended.

VU secured their 43rd straight win over a Region 24 opponent by defeating the Statesmen 26-24, 25-20, 25-18. Vincennes got off to a slow start in set one with Lincoln Trail quickly grabbing an 8-5 lead.

Vincennes was able to keep their composure in a hostile environment and come away with their 42nd straight Region 24 victory, winning over the Blue Storm 25-20, 25-17, 25-16. The Trailblazers began the morning of the final day of the Blazer Classic with a very tough test against No. 20-ranked Eastern Florida State College.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Vincennes University volleyball team had an excellent bounce back day Saturday at the final day of the 2024 Owens Community College Tournament in Ohio. VU bounced back from yesterday’s games with a pair of sweeps, first winning over Southwestern Michigan College 25-13, 25-13, 25-17, before closing out the tournament against Danville Area Community College 25-12, 25-7, 25-19. The Blazers got the day start out right with the first game of the day against Southwestern Michigan, after the Roadrunners got the first point of the match, VU answered by going on a big 11-0 scoring run with three aces by sophomore Libby Mehringer (Jasper, Ind.).

The Trailblazers played host to Region 24 opponent Shawnee Community College for a Region 24 doubleheader against the Saints Saturday afternoon. VU has gotten off to an excellent start to the season, improving to 3-0 on the year and winning all nine sets played after defeating the Saints 25-8, 25-18, 25-15 in match one and 25-11, 25-11, 25-6 in match two.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Fall 2024 Vincennes University Volleyball season is set to begin Thursday, Aug. 22 when the Trailblazers open the season at the Physical Education Complex against Wabash Valley College. This is the first of three straight Region 24 games for the Blazers to begin the season as VU looks to claim their fourth straight Region 24 Championship, while also entering the season with a 38 game winning streak against Region 24 opponents. “We are definitely still a work in progress,” VUVB Head Coach Gary Sien said. “We have a lot of newcomers in key positions and just like every other year it’s a whole new team and it’s a really challenging situation. I cannot think of a more challenging position than to play or coach a fall sport at a two year college. We have two or three weeks maximum to get ready for our first regular season game and we’re going over systems and techniques that they have possibly never gone over before.”

VINCENNES, Ind. – The three-time defending Region 24 Champion Vincennes University volleyball team picked up another big addition this week to close out their 2024 recruiting class with the addition of outside hitter Karen Kodi. Kodi is a five-foot 11 outside hitter that comes to Vincennes University from West Carrollton High School just outside of Dayton, Ohio. “We needed to recruit pins,” VUVB Head Coach Gary Sien said. “We graduated several from last year’s team. We have a lot of middles returning, but it was definitely a priority after losing that many outsides and right sides, the pins were really a priority in recruiting.”
