MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team has entered the final week of the 2023 regular season and began with the first of three Region 24 matches in five days. The Trailblazers traveled to Mattoon, Ill. to face-off against Lake Land College in VU’s final road game of the regular season Tuesday night and came away with a very solid three-set sweep over the host Lakers. Vincennes got off to a bit of a slow start in set one, quickly falling behind to Lake Land 6-3 before battling back to take their first lead of the match at 9-8.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team got off to a very strong start Friday afternoon inside the Physical Education Complex, picking up two wins to start the weekend as VU hosts the Showdown on the Wabash. The Blazers began the day with a big three-set sweep over St. Louis Community College 25-14, 25-8, 25-9, before closing out the first day of the weekend set with a big comeback victory over NJCAA Division II No. 19 Wallace State Community College 31-29, 24-26, 24-26, 25-20, 15-13. VU began the two-day weekend classic by facing off against the Archers from St. Louis Community College.

VINCENNES, Ind. – There was plenty to celebrate Wednesday night at the Physical Education Complex as the Blazers returned home to play in front of the home crowd for the first time since mid-September and came away with a big Region 24 sweep over Wabash Valley College 25-16, 25-12, 25-15. The sweep also increases VU’s winning streak against Region 24 opponents, which now sits at 33 matches dating back to the 2021 season. Vincennes sophomore libero Morgan Netcott (Montague, Mich.) was recognized after the match after she surpassed the 1,000 career digs milestone in September at the Wallace State Fall Bash.

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team notched their 20th win of the season Friday night on the first day of the Parkland College Fall Challenge in Champaign, Ill. The Blazers got off to a rough start to the weekend, falling to NJCAA Division II No. 17-ranked Illinois Central College 22-25, 23-25, 18-25 in the first match of the day, before battling back with a big comeback win over Southeastern (Iowa) Community College 23-25, 23-25, 25-12, 25-14, 16-14. Vincennes got off to a slow start Friday afternoon against Illinois Central, quickly falling behind by four points in the opening set, before coming back to even the score at 10-10.

ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team fell out of the NJCAA Division I Top-20 rankings this week after Saturday’s five-set loss at Wallace State, but still received votes. The Blazers responded in a big way Tuesday night by picking up their 32nd straight win over a Region 24 opponent by sweeping Shawnee Community College 25-8, 25-13, 25-13 in Ullin. “After such a tough weekend, we find ourselves on the road again,” VUVB Head Coach Gary Sien said. “This time facing an opponent who will play us hard but less competitive than the teams we played. We must stay focused and play hard no matter who is on the other side of the net. We must respect them as fellow student-athletes who are not much different from ourselves. I feel we did that tonight, where we played aggressive from beginning to end.”

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team extended their winning streak to eight games Saturday afternoon after sweeping Spoon River College 25-13, 25-11, 25-16 and defeating Jefferson College 19-25, 25-17, 22-25, 25-23, 15-9 on the final day of the Blazer Classic. The Blazers got the morning started at the Student Recreation Center by taking on Spoon River College from Canton, Ill. After a back-and-forth start to set one of the day, VU used a 12-1 scoring run to take firm command of the set after building a 23-10 lead.

MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team extended a number of streaks Wednesday night after defeating Wabash Valley College 25-11, 25-12, 25-12 in Mt. Carmel. The Trailblazers have now won their last five matches, have won 15 sets in a row and extended their winning streak against Region 24 opponents to 28 matches with Wednesday night’s sweep. VU set the tone early in Mt. Carmel, jumping out to a big lead early in set one, opening up a 20-5 advantage in the first set.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Vincennes University volleyball team continued their hot start to the 2023 season Saturday morning by finishing out the final day of the Owens C.C. Tournament with two more three-set sweeps, giving them four wins and four sweeps in two days. The Blazers began the morning with another tough showdown against a nationally ranked opponent, this time facing off against Division II No. 14 St Johns River State College from Lakeside, Fla. Vincennes defeated the Vikings 25-20, 25-20, 25-11.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Vincennes University volleyball team faced their first set back of the 2023 season earlier this week when they suffered their first loss of the year in five sets at Jefferson College Tuesday night. The Trailblazers looked to have bounced back very well Friday when VU took part in day one of the Owens C.C. Tournament hosted by Owens Community College in Ohio. VU began the two-day tournament with a very tough match against the reigning NJCAA Division II National Champion and current D-II No. 6-ranked Richard Bland College from Petersburg, Va.

HILLSBORO, Mo. – The Vincennes University volleyball team suffered their first loss of the 2023 season Tuesday night in a very evenly matched road showdown with Jefferson College. The Blazers fell to the Vikings 25-22, 25-27, 20-25, 26-24, 14-16. The two teams set the tone early for how closely contested this match would be, with the two teams trading side outs for most of the opening set.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team continued their hot start to the 2023 season Saturday afternoon, hosting a tri-match with Region 24 opponent Lake Land College and Ancilla College. The Blazers came away with the daily sweep, defeating Lake Land 25-19, 27-25, 25-13, before closing out the day by defeating Ancilla College 25-14, 25-10, 25-12. The Trailblazers began the day with their third straight Region 24 matchup to begin the 2023 season, hosting Lake Land College in the opening match of Saturday’s tri-match.

ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team added another win to their already impressive 26-game Region 24 winning streak Thursday night when the Blazers traveled to take on Lincoln Trail College in Robinson. VU fell behind early after dropping the first set but were able to bounce back and win the match in four sets, 22-25, 25-16, 25-19, 25-18. Vincennes got off to a great start in their first road game of the season, scoring the first three points of the match to begin set one and held onto this lead at 9-7.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team got the 2023 season started off with a bang, defeating Region 24 opponent Shawnee Community College in three sets 25-15, 25-8, 25-7 Tuesday night. VU got off to an excellent start in front of the home crowd, scoring 10 of the first 12 points of the opening set, before the Saints would battle back and capitalize off some Vincennes errors to cut the deficit to 14-10. The Blazers would rebound and close out the set with four unanswered points to take the first set of the season 25-15 over Shawnee.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The 2023-24 Vincennes University athletic season begins tomorrow, Tuesday, August 22 when the Vincennes University volleyball team plays host to Shawnee Community College at the Physical Education Complex at 6:30 p.m. eastern. The Trailblazer volleyball program is looking to win their third straight Region 24 Championship and is currently riding a 24-match winning streak against Region 24 opponents. Vincennes has already gotten off to a hot start to the 2023 campaign, winning 16 of 18 sets in VU’s four preseason scrimmages.
