VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 1 seed Vincennes University volleyball team successfully defended their Region 24 crown Saturday afternoon at the P.E. Complex with a sweep over No. 2 seed John A. Logan College 25-16, 25-21, 25-23. The Trailblazers completed their second straight 12-0 Region 24 season, moving their winning streak to 24 matches against Region 24 opponents. The win Saturday was also Vincennes Head Coach Gary Sien’s 700th career victory, as Coach Sien came away with the NJCAA Region 24 Coach of the Year award.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The 2022 Region 24 Champion Vincennes University volleyball team hit the floor for the first time since their Region 24 tournament win last weekend for the Midwest District B Championships at VU Sunday afternoon. The Trailblazers faced off in the District Semi-Finals against Iowa Western Community College. The Reivers picked up the win over the Blazers in four sets, 15-25, 25-22, 18-25, 17-25. The opening set began as a back-and-forth battle, with each time trading side outs before Iowa Western picked up a massive 9-0 scoring run on their way to closing out set one 25-15.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team survived the first step in defending their Region 24 crown Friday afternoon after defeating Kaskaskia College 29-27, 20-25, 14-25, 25-20, 15-8 in the NJCAA Division I Region 24 volleyball semi-finals. Vincennes began their day in the afternoon semi-final round after the Trailblazers earned the No. 1 seed in the tournament with a 10-0 regular season Region 24 record. The early stages of the opening set really showed how close this matchup is between VU and the No. 4 seed Blue Angels.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team celebrated Sophomore Recognition Day Saturday at the Physical Education Complex in style, finishing out the 2022 regular season with a 25-9, 25-19, 25-22 sweep over Region 24 opponent Kaskaskia College and a 25-10, 25-12, 25-11 sweep over Kankakee Community College. Vincennes began the day in the final Region 24 regular season game of the year against Kaskaskia College. VU set the tone early for the day with sophomore setter Josephine Mulligan (Saint John, Ind.) beginning the game with an 8-0 scoring run.

PARK HILLS, Mo – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball closed out their tough weekend tournament Saturday afternoon with a pair of tough losses. Vincennes fell in the first game of the day to No.3-ranked Indian Hills in four sets 19-25, 13-25, 25-23, 7-25 and closed out the weekend with a hard-fought five set match against Barton Community College, 19-25, 26-24, 25-22, 17-25, 9-15. The Trailblazers began the day with a very tough matchup against NJCAA No. 3-ranked Indian Hills Community College.

PARK HILLS, Mo. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers set off for their final weekend tournament away from the P.E. Complex Friday afternoon to take part in the Cardinal Classic hosted by Mineral Area College. VU began their weekend Friday by taking on host and No. 20-ranked Mineral Area and fell to the host Cardinals 22-25, 18-25, 22-25. Vincennes got off to a hot start against Mineral Area, jumping out to an early four-point lead midway through the opening set.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team extended their winning streak and their Region 24 winning streak Wednesday after defeating John A. Logan College in four sets 23-25, 25-14, 25-20, 25-18. The Trailblazers opened the match at home on a high note, jumping out to an early 10-4 lead, before the Volunteers used a pair of 5-0 scoring runs to rally back to take the lead. Vincennes tried to recover on their home floor but were unable to recapture the lead as John A. Logan took set one over the Blazers 25-23.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore setter Hannah Graber (Montgomery, Ind.) was recognized before Saturday’s match against St. Louis Community College after reaching the 1,000-career set assist milestone last night against Snead State. Graber’s 23 set assists against the Parsons Friday night gave her exactly 1,001 set assists as a member of the Trailblazers. “Since I started at VU in 2016, Hannah is only the third setter to reach this milestone,” VUVB Head Coach Gary Sien said. “Pretty much every year since I’ve been here, we have run a six-two or two-setter system and that, of course, makes it more challenging to reach 1,000 set assists because you are splitting time with another setter.”

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team extended their winning streak to eight games Friday after defeating Edison State Community College 25-23, 25-19, 25-13 and Snead State Community College 22-25, 25-23, 25-19, 25-9 to begin the Showdown on the Wabash at the P.E. Complex. The Trailblazers opened the two-day tournament against Edison State Community College from Piqua, Ohio. The first set against the Chargers began slowly for VU until sophomore Lara Gomes de Castro (Sao Paulo, Brazil) gave the Blazers the momentum with a 7-0 scoring run.

VU notched their 20th win of the season with the win over the Statesmen 24-26, 25-13, 25-13, 25-23. MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team closed out a tough week of games Friday night with their third Region 24 victory in just four day beating host Lake Land 25-20, 25-16, 25-21. VU closed out the week with three Region 24 victories, putting their season record at 8-0 in Region 24 play and extending their Region 24 winning streak to 20 matches. Set one began as a battle. The Lakers were playing shorthanded and that caused the Blazers to have to adjust on the fly.

Complex. Before the game, members of the VU volleyball team recognized different members of the Vincennes University Faculty and Staff who have made a tremendous impact on them at VU. The Trailblazers rode this wave of support from the pregame festivities into the opening set with the Blazers jumping out to a 16-6 lead after a 7-0 run by sophomore Josephine Mulligan (Saint John, Ind.).

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team extended their Region 24 winning streak to 18 games Tuesday night after battling back in a tough five-set win at Kaskaskia College 27-25, 23-25, 19-25, 27-25, 15-11. The Trailblazers grabbed the early lead in set one but quickly had to play from behind as the set went back and forth, heading into overtime before the Blazers closed out the 27-25 win. Vincennes fell behind again in set two, trailing by seven before rallying back to tie the game at 19-19.

VU would close out the set strong, using a 3-0 scoring run to extend the lead and take the opening set 25-17.

The Trailblazers began the day by picking up the three-set sweep over McHenry County 25-22, 25-23, 25-16 before returning to the floor to face host Parkland College where VU fell 21-25, 18-25, 15-25. Vincennes began the day against McHenry County and quickly took the lead in set one. VU never trailed in the opening set as VU grabbed the early lead and held on to take set one 25-22.

The Trailblazers got off to a slow start at Parkland Friday, falling behind early against the Loggers 12-4.

Complex by picking up their 10th win of the season in a 25-11, 25-13, 25-16 sweep over Ancilla College. The Trailblazers set the tone early in set one, with VU jumping out to an early 9-2 lead in the opening set. Vincennes continued to hold control of the opening set with a late 6-0 scoring run helping the Blazers grab the 25-11 first set win.

PERRYSBURG, Ohio – The Vincennes University Trailblazers volleyball team suffered their first loss of the 2022 season Friday night on the opening day of the two-day Owens Community College tournament. VU fell in four sets to NJCAA Division II No. 15-ranked Richard Bland College 25-20, 18-25, 22-25, 20-25 before immediately turning around and defeating Muskegon Community College in four sets 17-25, 25-18, 27-25, 25-14. The Trailblazers took the court to begin their weekend tournament and VU quickly made an impact, jumping out to a 16-11 lead midway through the opening set over the Richard Bland Statesmen.

ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team hit the road for the first time during the 2022 regular season and came away with a three-set sweep over Region 24 opponent Shawnee 25-6, 25-13, 25-11. This matchup is one of VU’s longest road trips of the season, with the Blazers needing to not only battle a three-hour bus ride, but also a time change and a change in location with the match being played at Century High School in Ullin. Vincennes grabbed control of the opening set quickly, jumping out to a 14-3 advantage over the Saints.

Complex. The Trailblazers began the day by hosting the Shawnee Saints, opening their season with a big Region 24 showdown. VU quickly jumped on top in set one, using a 10-0 scoring run to gain a commanding lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Volleyball program looks to start the VU Athletics season with a bang on Sunday, August 21, when VU hosts Region 24 opponent Shawnee Community College and East Central (Mo.) College in tri-match action. The Trailblazers are coming off of a historic season in 2021, which saw VU capture their first Region Championship in 15 years and first Region title at the NJCAA Division I level. Never wanting to settle, Head Coach Gary Sien continues to set his sights higher coming into the 2022 season after bringing in another tremendous recruiting class.
