VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore middle blocker Jamie Russell (East St. Louis, Ill.) signed her letter of intent to continue her academic and athletic careers at Stephens College in Columbia, Mo. Tuesday afternoon. “I chose Stephens College because they have a great volleyball program and compete against some very competitive teams,” Russell said. Russell helped guide the Trailblazer volleyball team to a record of 37-15 over the past two seasons, while averaging 7.5 kills, 2.7 blocks and 2.5 digs per match at Vincennes, including leading the Trailblazers in points and kills her freshman season with 259.5 points and 226 kills.
Hillsboro, Mo. – The historic run for the Vincennes University volleyball team has likely come to an end Saturday afternoon as the Blazers fell to host Jefferson College in four sets, 19-25, 18-25, 26-24, 18-25 in the Midwest District A Semifinals. Jefferson utilized the home court advantage early as Vincennes fell behind two sets to zero with the Vikings winning set one 25-19 and set two 25-18. Looking to avoid being swept for the first time since late September, the Blazers rallied back to win set three in overtime 26-24.
MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The 2021 Vincennes University Trailblazers volleyball team won their first Region 24 Championship in program history Saturday afternoon after defeating John A. Logan 25-12, 20-25, 25-20, 25-19. The last VU Region Championship came in 2006 before the Trailblazers made the move to NJCAA Division I in 2016 from Division II and later moved from Region 12 to Region 24 in 2018. “It feels amazing, this is what we’ve been working for all season,” VUVB sophomore team captain and second-year libero Grace Earp (Mattoon, Ill.) said. “This really just shows how we were able to go 12-0 in the Region and hopefully continue this run at District.”
MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team continued their winning streak Friday afternoon by defeating Lake Land College 25-20, 25-23, 28-26 in the Region 24 Semi-Finals at Wabash Valley. The VU winning streak now sits at 11 wins in a row dating back to Sept. 25. The Trailblazers have also only lost four sets during this streak. Vincennes looked to be the more aggressive team in the opening set against Lake Land, as the Blazers jumped out to a 10-3 lead with some excellent serving from freshman Addison Ainscough (Cannelburg, Ind.) who accounted for four aces during the opening set.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team closed out their Fall 2021 regular season with a sweep over Region 24 opponent Kaskaskia 26-24, 25-16, 25-20. With the win, VU finishes with an unbeaten 10-0 record in Region 24 play and an impressive 20-3 record overall. The first set showed how evenly matched these two teams were, with the Blue Angels breaking the back-and-forth scoring to take a 10-7 lead.
CARTERVILLE, Ill. - The Vincennes University volleyball team hit the floor for the first time in nearly two weeks by hitting the road to take on Region 24 opponent John A. Logan Friday night. The Trailblazers extended their winning streak to nine games and improved to 9 – 0 in Region 24 play with a three-set sweep over the Volunteers 25-17, 25-16, 25-21. Vincennes shook off the rust early against the host Vols, setting the tone from the start to take set one 25-17 and take a 1-0 match lead.

A Logan on the final day of the Showdown on the Wabash. The Trailblazers finished off a 25-20, 25-23, 21-25, 24-26, 15-7 win over the visiting Volunteers. This match was close from the very beginning, with the two teams trading scoring runs of two or three with the Blazers able to take a 22-18 lead late in the opening set.

Complex Friday afternoon on day one of the Showdown on the Wabash Classic. Vincennes defeated Region 24 opponent Wabash Valley 25-20, 25-16, 25-17 and came back to sweep Gadsden State Community College 25-16, 25-12, 25-13. The Blazers opened the two-day classic by facing Region 24 opponent Wabash Valley for the second time in a week.
HARRISBURG, Ill. – The Vincennes University Volleyball team closed out a stretch of playing three road games in five days by traveling to take on Southeastern Illinois College Tuesday night and the Blazers came away with the strong sweep, 25-7, 25-20, 25-17. Vincennes looked to set the tone early in set one, building a big lead and not allowing the Falcons to score 10 points on their home floor, winning 25-7 to take the opening set. VU seemed to relax in set two and Southeastern Illinois rallied, battling back in the second set before Vincennes came away with the 25-20 win, giving the Blazers the 2-0 match lead.

The Blazers immediately answered with a small 3-0 scoring run to cut the deficit to a single point.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers concluded their back end of their Region 24 road back-to-back Saturday afternoon at Lake Land College in Mattoon. The Blazers came away with their second three-set sweep over the Lakers in just four days. Winning 26-24, 25-20, 25-19. This match was much closer than the one played Wednesday night at the P.E. Complex, with the Lakers defending their home floor well.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team remained unbeaten in Region 24 play after defeating Lake Land College, 25-9, 25-8, 25-18, Wednesday night. VU returned to their home floor for the first time in 11 days and defended their home floor well against the Lakers. Vincennes opened the match by scoring 10 of the first 12 points and continued to build to a 21-7 advantage.
ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers volleyball team has gotten off to an impressive start to their 2021 season, sitting with an 11-3 record and a perfect 3-0 mark in Region 24 play. The Blazers got their third Region win of the season Monday night as they traveled to take on the Saints of Shawnee Community College. VUVB came away with the three-set sweep over the host Saints, 25-5, 25-13, 25-10.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers, led by hitters Amee Beedle (Wheaton, Ill.), Addison Ainscough (Cannelburg, Ind.) and Jagoda Szybinska (Poznan, Poland) helped guide the Blazers to a split on the final day of the Parkland College Classic Saturday. VUVB came away with a four-set win over D-II No. 6-ranked McHenry County 25-15, 19-25, 25-23, 26-24, before falling in four sets to Lincoln Land College 23-25, 18-25, 25-15, 22-25. The Blazers seemed to carry some of their late momentum from yesterday’s win over Des Moines Area into their opening match of the day against McHenry County.
CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Volleyball team faced a difficult task on day one of the Parkland College Classic, Friday afternoon, facing a pair of Top-15-ranked NJCAA Division-II teams in host No. 3 Parkland and No. 14 Des Moines Area. The Blazers came away with the two match split, falling to Parkland 8-25, 12-25, 18-25, before coming back to pick up the five-set win over Des Moines Area, 18-25, 17-25, 25-21, 25-12, 15-10. Vincennes didn’t get off to the best of starts for this weekend classic. Facing host and D-II No. 3-ranked Parkland College.
FAIRFIELD, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team took their show on the road again Wednesday night, traveling to Fairfield to take on Frontier Community College. VU came away with the three-set sweep over the host Bobcats, winning 25-15, 25-18, 25-16. Vincennes found themselves in a tight back-and-forth battle to start the opening set. Frontier worked their way back from down 7-3 to even the score at nine-all.
CENTRALIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team hit the road Monday night to take on the defending Region 24 champion-Kaskaskia College Blue Angels in what was sure to be “Game of the Week” in Region 24. Set one lived up to the lofty expectations as the two teams battled back-and-forth as the set went to overtime. Kaskaskia came away with the set one win, 26-24. The score was tied 16 times during set one and the lead changed hands a staggering nine times.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers picked up a pair of wins Saturday afternoon over East Central College 25-15, 25-22, 25-15 and Henry Ford Community College 25-14, 25-15, 25-9. VU extends their winning streak to four matches and have won 12-straight sets. The Trailblazers found themselves in a battle early against East Central, with the score set at 15-12 midway through the opening set.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers shook off the rust after not playing for nearly three weeks by picking up the three-set sweep over Region 24 opponent Shawnee Friday night, 25-10, 25-7, 25-11. Vincennes got after the Saints early, after dropping the first point of the match, VU responded by scoring the next six points unanswered, ultimately going on a 9-1 scoring run. The early deficit was too much for Shawnee as the Blazers continued to keep their foot on the gas pedal, taking the opening set 25-10.
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – The Vincennes University volleyball team kicked off their season Friday night with an impressive first day at Wallace State’s “Diggin’ in the Den” tournament. The Trailblazers came away with a pair of five-set victories over tough opponent’s Roane State and Chattanooga State to open up the Fall 2021 campaign. VU put away previously unbeaten Roane State 18-25, 25-22, 24-26, 26-24, 15-11 and ended the day Friday by downing Chattanooga State 20-25, 19-25, 25-15, 25-15, 15-13.
HANCEVILLE, Ala. – Vincennes had to face a tough test early Saturday morning after winning two five-set matches against strong opponents the night before. The Trailblazers got the morning started by taking on host and No. 18 ranked Wallace State Community College. The Lions showed why they are one of the top-ranked teams in the country by downing the Blazers in straight sets in VU’s first match of the day.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Fall 2021 Trailblazer volleyball team are wrapping up their shortened offseason after playing their 2020 season last spring, as the Blazers prepare for an early tough test in Hanceville, Ala. The Trailblazers will begin their Fall 2021 campaign Friday, August 27 against Roane State Community College at 5 p.m. eastern, which will immediately be followed by a matchup with Chattanooga State Community College at 7 p.m. eastern. The two-day classic will conclude for the Blazers on Saturday, Aug. 28 when VU takes on host and No. 18-ranked Wallace State at 10 a.m., followed by the final game of the weekend against Bevill State at 12 p.m. eastern.
