VINCENNES, Ind. – Heading into Thursday night’s NJCAA Division I Midwest District Semifinal matchup with the Rend Lake Warriors, the Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers had not lost a game since March 6. The massive 10-game winning streak did come to an end however, as the Lady Warriors picked up the 83-71 win at the P.E. Complex to advance to the Midwest District Championship game. All signs looked good for the Blazers early, after Rend Lake scored the first basket, VU went on a 14-4 scoring run to take a seven points lead midway through the first quarter.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers are well represented in the 2021 NJCAA All-Region 24 team released Monday afternoon. Sophomore guards Amani Brown and Shaila Beeler come in as First Team All-Region 24 members and Reeva Hammelman comes away with Third Team honors, as well as being named the 2021 Sportsmanship Award winner in Region 24. Amani Brown leads the Lady Trailblazers this season, averaging 18.2 points, 3.3 rebounds and 2.9 assists per game this season.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers tipped-off their postseason at the P.E. Complex Tuesday night and came away with a convincing 83-56 win over the Blue Angels. Vincennes led the whole game, jumping out early in the first and riding the momentum of a 12-0 scoring run to open the third quarter to the win. VU got the game started quickly, scoring the first four points of the game, before expanding their lead to 10-4 late in the first period.

The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers came away with the upset victory over No. 12-ranked Wabash Valley 78-74. CENTRALIA, Ill. – The 2021 Vincennes University basketball season is beginning to wind down and the Lady Blazers took their show on the road for the final time this regular season to take on Kaskaskia College and VU came away with the 86-76 win. The Trailblazer offense got started early, feeding Alexis Radcliff under the basket on her way to nine points in the first quarter of play. Radcliff’s offensive showcase gave Vincennes the early 27-21 lead after 10 minutes of play. VU continued to push the tempo offensively in the second quarter, this time going through Amani Brown as the Trailblazers built a 52-42 halftime lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers found themselves playing from behind most of their game Monday night against Rend Lake, trailing 61-51 heading into the fourth quarter. Vincennes began the fourth quarter firing on all cylinders, starting the final 10 minutes of play by going on a 12-2 scoring run to even the game at 63-all with seven minutes to play. The two teams traded baskets until a three by sophomore Reeva Hammelman gave VU a 77-74 lead.

ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers took on the Shawnee Lady Saints Saturday afternoon in a rematch from this past Monday, when VU won 67-60 at the P.E. Complex. This round again went to the Trailblazers as VU picked up their third win of the week and second against Shawnee by the score of 53-50. Shawnee got off to a fast start in the first, jumping out to a 17-13 advantage after the first 10 minutes of play.

CARTERVILLE, Ill. – Trailblazer sophomore Amani Brown finished her night with 10 makes from behind the three-point arc including six in the first quarter and eight total in the first half on her way to a career-high 34 points in VU’s 110-78 win at John A. Logan. Brown got the Blazers started early, scoring 18 of VU’s 30 first quarter points as Vincennes led by 13 after the first 10 minutes of play. Freshman Brianna Raynor chipped in in the score column in the second quarter, coming off the bench to score 12 points.

VINCENNES, Ind – Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers head coach Harry Meeks notched his 700th career win as leader of the Lady Blazers in VU’s 75-66 win over Lincoln Trail Saturday night. The Blazers got off to another slow start offensively, scoring only nine points in the first 10 minutes of the game, but held serve on the defensive end to trail by just three points after the first quarter. VU’s offense came through in the second quarter led by sophomore guard Reeva Hammelman to outscore Lincoln Trail 26-15 to take a 35-27 lead into the locker room.

INA, Ill. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers snapped a two-game losing streak with an impressive road win over Rend Lake College Wednesday night. VU faced an 11-point deficit after the first quarter but continued to power through to comeback and get the 82-71 Region 24 win.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 21-ranked Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers dug themselves a big hole, facing a 22-point halftime deficit. VU managed to claw their way back into the game, cutting the lead to single digits in the third quarter, but just ran out of time as Olney Central came away with the 73-68 win. Vincennes started out hitting, jumping out to a 12-4 early lead midway through the first quarter, prompting Olney Central coach Clint Burris to call a timeout.

MT. CARMEL, Ill. – In a battle between two top-25 women’s basketball teams fighting for top position within Region 24, the No. 21-ranked Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers came away with a hard fought 93-79 loss to No. 16 Wabash Valley. The Trailblazers got off to a very slow start, turning the ball over on three of their first four possessions as the Lady Warriors jumped out to a 20-4 lead in the first quarter.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 22-ranked Vincennes Lady Trailblazers had six players reach double-figures in the score column in VU’s 89-77 win over Kaskaskia College Wednesday night. Vincennes got off to a rough start in the first quarter as KCC was able to find open shooters on the perimeter. Trailblazer freshman Noni Russell hit a buzzer-beating three to cut the Blue Angel lead to just seven points after the first 10 minutes.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 24-ranked Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers picked a strong 96-63 win over John A. Logan Thursday night in a game that saw two Lady Blazers record double-doubles. VU started out the game slow, falling behind by seven in midway through the first quarter before getting their offense rolling to take a six-point lead after the first quarter.

Robinson, Ill. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers jumped back into the NJCAA Division Top-25 this week, coming in at No. 24 and VU did not disappoint as they picked up the 88-74 Region 24 win over Lincoln Trail Monday night. VU got off to a hot start, scoring the first seven points of the game. The rest of the first quarter was more evenly played as the seven-point advantage stuck, 23-16.

OLNEY, Ill. – The VU women’s basketball team has been busy lately, winning their third game in just five days Monday night against the Blue Knights of Olney Central, 70-62. Vincennes got off to a hot start, jumping out to a quick 8-1 advantage. The seven-point margin would hold for most of the game as the two teams traded baskets back-and-forth.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Lady Trailblazers finally got to hit the floor at the P.E. Complex after nearly a year away and defended their home court accordingly with a strong 60-43 win over Mineral Area College. The two evenly matched teams battled hard, back and forth through the first quarter, with Mineral Area building a lead of six points before the Blazers answered to close the first quarter and take a 14-13 lead off a layup from sophomore guard Amani Brown.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Head Coach Harry Meeks is coming off being inducted into the NJCAA Women’s Basketball Coaches Association Hall of Fame enters his 30th season patrolling the Vincennes sidelines and hopes to make 2021 a season to remember as he sits just nine wins away from 700 victories at Vincennes University. VU returns only one starter from the 2020 season in sophomore guard Amani Brown. Brown averaged 15.1 points and 3.4 assists last season and will look to build on that production as her role on the team grows.
