VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomores Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.), Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) each picked up some individual honors for this past season. Burdette would be named second team All-Conference, as well as earning a spot on the All-Region 24 team, while Evans earned second team All-Conference honors for the second year in a row and Colin Long was named to the Region 24 Rawlings Gold Glove team for the second time. VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore center fielder Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) set a new school record for hits in a career Friday afternoon, giving him 163 surpassing Jeffrey Hanna who set the record back in 1989. “Colin has had a great career here,” VU Head Baseball Coach Chris Barney said. “We were fortunate to have him back this year. He plays a great centerfield and is now the career hits leader at VU, so that’s a pretty big feather in his cap. The Blazers got off to another slow start Sunday afternoon with the Ocelots scoring in the first inning in all four games this weekend. Schoolcraft pushed one across in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. VU would get on the board in the third after a lead off single by freshman Trevor Newman (Fort Wayne, Ind.).
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers began their weekend home stand on a great note Friday afternoon after freshman pitcher Gavin Craggs (Taylorville, Ill.) threw a five-inning complete game to help the Blazers get an 11-1 victory over Schoolcraft College. The Trailblazers got off to a slow start at Jerry Blemker Field, with Schoolcraft striking first in the first inning after a lead-off walk came around to score. Vincennes’ hitters would get this run back quickly however after a leadoff walk by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.).
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team continues to roll through their weekend series with Schoolcraft College at Jerry Blemker Field with a pair of wins Saturday afternoon. VU took down the Ocelots in comeback fashion in game one of the day 5-4 before coming back and picking up the six-inning run-rule 15-5 victory in game two. The Trailblazers got off to a slow start Saturday afternoon, with Schoolcraft responding back after being run ruled Friday night to score three runs in the first.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team is not taking any time off this week while the rest of the University is on Spring Break. The VU baseball club is slated to play six games in six days this week starting with Tuesday night’s 17-7 win over Oakland City JV at Jerry Blemker Field. The day did not get off to a great start for the Blue and Gold with Oakland City jump on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a pair of runs.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team picked up a big bounce back win Sunday afternoon at Jerry Blemker Field, rallying back from down 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh to score six runs in the inning and pick up the walk-off 7-6 win over Lincoln Trail College. The Blazers then turned around for the night game of the Sunday doubleheader and fell to the NJCAA Division I No. 10-ranked Wabash Valley Warriors by the score of 16-5. The day got off to a great start for the Blazers at Jerry Blemker Field. After a clean top of the first by freshman starting pitcher Josh McCormick (Indianapolis, Ind.), the Blazers led off the bottom half of the inning with back-to-back walks by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) and Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.).
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team has hit a rough patch early in the spring 2023 season and it continued into Saturday’s split doubleheader at Jerry Blemker Field. The Trailblazers fell to Morton College in the morning game of the day 10-7 and fell to NJCAA Division III No. 13-ranked Joliet Junior College 12-9 in the final game of the night. The day got off to a rocky start for the Trailblazers with Morton College putting up six runs in the top of the first inning.

VU got off to a slow start with the Panthers getting a run on the board quickly after a leadoff double in the first. The Trailblazers didn’t waste any time getting this run back in the bottom half of the inning however with sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a hit by pitch and scoring from first on an RBI double by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.).
MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team faced their toughest test of this young 2023 spring season Tuesday afternoon after traveling to Mt. Carmel to take on NJCAA Division I No. 8-ranked Wabash Valley College. The Trailblazers got off to another hot start Tuesday afternoon, with leadoff hitter sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reaching base on an infield single and advancing to second on a throwing error, one of three hits Burdette would have on the day. Burdette was then followed by an RBI double by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.) to put the Blazers on the board first.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball offense is beginning to round into form this weekend after scoring 19 totals runs in two games Saturday at Jerry Blemker Field, VU returned to the field Sunday evening to score 13 more runs in a 13-4 win over Ancilla College. The Trailblazers picked up right where they left off yesterday with freshman starting pitcher Gavin Craggs (Taylorville, Ill.) throwing a clean three-up, three-out top of the first. VU then got things going at the plate with sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) beating out an infield hit to lead off the first. Burdette would later score on a passed ball.

Vincennes got the day started Saturday morning and fell to South Suburban College 15-12. The Bulldogs grabbed the early lead, plating a run in the top off the first in game one of the day at VU.

The home season opener got off to a pretty good start after a clean three-up, three-down top of the first, the Trailblazers got their first two hitters on base with a leadoff single by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) and a walk by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.). Burdette would end up stranded at third as the Trailblazers were unable to capitalize on this early success.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The Vincennes University baseball team got off to a great start at the plate, scoring five runs in the first two innings but were unable to maintain this hot start as VU fell 9-5 in the final game of Vincennes’ three-game weekend set at Cleveland State Community College. Vincennes looked to get on the board early and often Saturday afternoon, with the first three batters all reaching base, including an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and a two-RBI single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) to give VU an early 3-0 lead. The Cougars answered back in the bottom of the first, evening the game and getting all three runs back to end the first inning of play tied 3-3.
CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 2023 Vincennes University baseball season got underway with a bang Friday afternoon with the Trailblazers taking game one of the doubleheader 7-4 before falling in game two 3-0. The VU season started quickly with sophomore second baseman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off game one of the day with a bunt single. Burdette would later score on an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.). Evans would also come around to score after executing a delayed double steal with sophomore Will Egger (Terre Haute, Ind.).
