Metzger and Grimes record double-doubles in VUVB sweep over Frontier
FAIRFIELD, Ill – The Vincennes University volleyball team took their show on the road for the third of four straight road games as the Trailblazers came away with the 3-0 match sweep over Frontier Wednesday. Vincennes got the match started the right way, working their way to a 25-12 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 match lead for the fourth time in the last five matches. The Trailblazers continued their momentum into the second set as VU took set two 25-15 over Frontier.

Vincennes got the match started the right way, working their way to a 25-12 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 match lead for the fourth time in the last five matches.
The Trailblazers continued their momentum into the second set as VU took set two 25-15 over Frontier.
Frontier looked to battle back in the third set but Vincennes held them off, taking set three 25-19 for the match sweep.
"It was good to get back on the winning track after a tough week," VUVB head coach Gary Sien said. "Due to our good ball control, something we struggled with all last week, we were able to hit .327 percent for the night, which is only the fourth time all year we have hit over .300."
The Trailblazers were led by the front line duo of Breanna Metzger and Jamie Russell, who finished with 12 kills each.
Metzger completed her third double-double in a row by adding 10 digs and two block assists to her stat line.
Russell added two solo block, two block assists and two digs.
Savannah Grimes also came away with a double-double as she ran the Trailblazer offense from the setter position, finishing with 30 set assists and 10 digs on the night.
This marks Grimes' fifth straight double-double and ninth of the season. She also added one kill, one solo block and one block assist.
Emile Cornelson also came through for the Blazers, finishing with five kills, two solo block, two block assists and one dig.
Amee Beedle and Elizabeth Combs each finished with three kills, with Beedle adding eight digs to her line.
Olga Vasovic helped VU from her back row position on her way to seven digs on the night.
"It was also good to get the entire roster in the match tonight, "Sien added. "This marks the first of four matches for us this week, including our last two Region 24 games. The Region standing will go right down to the wire."
Vincennes will be on the road again Friday, March 19 as VU takes on Region 24 opponent Kaskaskia at 5 p.m. eastern.
The Trailblazers will then finish their regular-season campaign at home Saturday, March 20, when VU hosts Region 24 opponent Wabash Valley and Morton College in a tri-match. First match of the day is set for 10 a.m. eastern Saturday, with VU and Morton set to square off at 2 p.m.
