COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – VUVB’s run at a Midwest District A Championship came to an end Friday afternoon after the Blazers fell 3-0 to the Mineral Area Cardinals in the second semifinal match of the day. Set one did not start the way Vincennes had hoped, with the Cardinals jumping out to a 15-2 lead midway through the opening set. The Blazers continued to fight, trying to cut into the large lead, but ultimately fell 25-10, giving Mineral Area the 1-0 match lead.

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The 2021 Vincennes University volleyball regular season is quickly coming to a close as the Trailblazers hit the road for the last time before tournament play to take on the Blue Angels of Kaskaskia Friday evening. Kaskaskia got off to a fast start on their home floor, jumping out to a 9-4 early lead in set one. The Trailblazers looked to respond but could not close the margin as the Blue Angels took the 1-0 match lead with a 25-14 win in set one.

The Trailblazers took their show on the road this past Saturday as they made the trip to Champaign to take on a pair of Division-II ranked teams in No. 1-ranked Parkland and No. 14 Lincoln Land.

MATTOON, Ill. – The Trailblazer volleyball team extended their winning streak to three matches after picking up two wins in back-to-back matches against host Lake Land and John Wood Friday evening. VU’s first win of the day came in a five-set thriller against Region 24 opponent Lake Land College.

ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team took their show on the road Tuesday as the Trailblazers took on Region 24 opponent Shawnee. VU took the match in a three-set sweep, 25-14, 25-6, 25-14.

Park Hills, MO and Hillsboro, MO – The Vincennes University volleyball team hit the road this past weekend to take on Mineral Area College and Jefferson College in two separate matches, at two different schools in one day. VU first took on Mineral Area in a match that saw the Blazers fall behind early. The Cardinals took the first two sets by the score of 25-12 and 25-16. Vincennes would try to fight back in the third set and were nearly able to avoid the sweep, before MAC took the set and the match 26-24.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team hosted a tri-match Sunday afternoon against Jefferson College and Parkland. The Trailblazers came away with a win and a loss on the day, with the win coming in the opening match against Jefferson 25-21, 25-19, 25-21.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The 2021 Vincennes University volleyball team began their season in strong fashion by picking up a sweep against Lincoln Trail in VU’s first regular-season home match since Oct. 30, 2019. The Trailblazers got off to a hot start in set one, building an early 5-2 lead, before closing out the first set of the season with a 25-13 win.

The Spring 2021 version of the Trailblazer Volleyball team will look a lot different than the 2019 squad after losing 10 players and only bringing back four returning sophomores. Savannah Grimes and Breanna Metzger are the only two players returning with major in game experience for the Blazers, with Kacee Nicholson and Olga Vasovic seeing the floor sparingly in 2019.
