VINCENNES, Ind. – The VUVB sophomore duo of Savannah Grimes and Breanna Metzger were recently received First Team All-Region 24 recognition for their efforts during the 2021 Spring Season. Grimes served as VU’s setter throughout the 2021 season and came away with a very impressive 753 set assists and surpassed the 1,000 career set assist milestone this season. Grimes also finished the 2021 Spring season with 271 digs, 39 total blocks, 33 kills and 21 service aces.
COUNCIL BLUFFS, Iowa – VUVB’s run at a Midwest District A Championship came to an end Friday afternoon after the Blazers fell 3-0 to the Mineral Area Cardinals in the second semifinal match of the day. Set one did not start the way Vincennes had hoped, with the Cardinals jumping out to a 15-2 lead midway through the opening set. The Blazers continued to fight, trying to cut into the large lead, but ultimately fell 25-10, giving Mineral Area the 1-0 match lead.
Mattoon, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer volleyball team started the postseason with a bang, winning over John A. Logan 3-1 in the Region 24 Semifinals at Lake Land College. The match started out with the teams trading side outs, with VU holding a narrow 6-5 advantage. The Trailblazers then went on an impressive 15-4 scoring run to lead 21-9.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Trailblazer volleyball team’s quest for a Region 24 Championship came up just short Saturday afternoon as VUVB finishes as runners-up after falling 3-0 to Kaskaskia. The Blue Angels started the match on fire, scoring the first nine points of the first set, before VU responded but were ultimately unable to completely erase the deficit as KCC took set one 25-17. Vincennes jumped out to the early lead in set two, gaining an early 4-0 advantage, before Kaskaskia came storming back to take the lead and the set 25-19 to hold a 2-0 match lead.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The spring 2021 volleyball regular season came to a close Saturday for the Vincennes University Trailblazers as VU defeated Region 24 opponent Wabash Valley and Morton College. Vincennes got the morning started by taking on Wabash Valley in a Region 24 match. The two squads played the first set evenly, back-and-forth until a 6-0 scoring run by Vincennes put the Blazers up 19-14.
CENTRALIA, Ill. – The 2021 Vincennes University volleyball regular season is quickly coming to a close as the Trailblazers hit the road for the last time before tournament play to take on the Blue Angels of Kaskaskia Friday evening. Kaskaskia got off to a fast start on their home floor, jumping out to a 9-4 early lead in set one. The Trailblazers looked to respond but could not close the margin as the Blue Angels took the 1-0 match lead with a 25-14 win in set one.
FAIRFIELD, Ill – The Vincennes University volleyball team took their show on the road for the third of four straight road games as the Trailblazers came away with the 3-0 match sweep over Frontier Wednesday. Vincennes got the match started the right way, working their way to a 25-12 win in the opening set to take a 1-0 match lead for the fourth time in the last five matches. The Trailblazers continued their momentum into the second set as VU took set two 25-15 over Frontier.

Mt. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team fell for the first time in Region 24 play, after starting the season with a 6-0 record against Regional opponents. The Trailblazers fell on the road against Wabash Valley 23-25, 25-16, 21-25, 17-25. VU battled back and forth with the Blue Angels in the first set. Kaskaskia jumped out to an early 10-6 lead before VU would answer with a scoring run of their own to even the score at 12-all.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Trailblazer volleyball team extended their winning streak to three matches after picking up two wins in back-to-back matches against host Lake Land and John Wood Friday evening. VU’s first win of the day came in a five-set thriller against Region 24 opponent Lake Land College.
ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University volleyball team took their show on the road Tuesday as the Trailblazers took on Region 24 opponent Shawnee. VU took the match in a three-set sweep, 25-14, 25-6, 25-14.
Park Hills, MO and Hillsboro, MO – The Vincennes University volleyball team hit the road this past weekend to take on Mineral Area College and Jefferson College in two separate matches, at two different schools in one day. VU first took on Mineral Area in a match that saw the Blazers fall behind early. The Cardinals took the first two sets by the score of 25-12 and 25-16. Vincennes would try to fight back in the third set and were nearly able to avoid the sweep, before MAC took the set and the match 26-24.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University volleyball team hosted a tri-match Sunday afternoon against Jefferson College and Parkland. The Trailblazers came away with a win and a loss on the day, with the win coming in the opening match against Jefferson 25-21, 25-19, 25-21.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The 2021 Vincennes University volleyball team began their season in strong fashion by picking up a sweep against Lincoln Trail in VU’s first regular-season home match since Oct. 30, 2019. The Trailblazers got off to a hot start in set one, building an early 5-2 lead, before closing out the first set of the season with a 25-13 win.
The Spring 2021 version of the Trailblazer Volleyball team will look a lot different than the 2019 squad after losing 10 players and only bringing back four returning sophomores. Savannah Grimes and Breanna Metzger are the only two players returning with major in game experience for the Blazers, with Kacee Nicholson and Olga Vasovic seeing the floor sparingly in 2019.
