Pep Band
The Vincennes University Pep Band is a performance-based course open to all brass, woodwind, guitar, bass, keyboard, and percussion players, regardless of major. The band performs at most VU Women’s and Men’s home basketball games, with occasional exceptions due to Music Department events or class schedules. The ensemble plays a wide variety of styles, including jazz, rock, pop, and Latin.
Participation requires an audition with the band director and enrollment in MUSE 152-001 each semester. The one-credit course meets in both fall and spring on Tuesdays and Thursdays from 2:00–2:50 p.m. in the Band Room (RSPAC 142). Membership for the full academic year is preferred but not required, and the class is repeatable for credit.
All members are expected to attend every performance. Based on audition results and available funding, some students may qualify for music scholarships.
For more information or to audition, contact Professor Sharon S. Jackson, Director of Bands, at 812-888-4435 or sjackson@vinu.edu. Her office is located in the Red Skelton Performing Arts Center (RSPAC), Room 134.
