NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season came to a quick end Wednesday night with the Trailblazers falling in the opening round game to No. 11 Parkland 10-4 before falling to Lincoln Land in the elimination game 13-9. The day got off to a great start for the Trailblazers, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game against Parkland with a single, stealing second and coming in to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Colin Long to put the Blazers on the board in the first. Parkland would even the score with a run in the second before VU answered back to grab the lead back in the third on an RBI single by Long.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Brayten Trinkle (Bicknell, Ind.) came through big in just his sixth at bat of the season, picking up a walk-off single to give the Blazers a 10-0 run-rule victory over Spoon River Friday afternoon. The two teams then squared off in game two of this Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader, which saw Spoon River come away with the 5-3 victory in the regular season finale. The Blazers got off to another excellent start in game one of the day, with sophomores Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.) and Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) hitting back-to-back singles, before sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) was hit by a pitch to load the bases in the first.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team punched their ticket to the 2023 Mid-West Athletic Conference tournament Thursday afternoon with a sweep of the first two games of the final four-game weekend conference series of the regular season against Spoon River. VU picked up the win in game one of the day 12-2 before coming back in game two and ending the day with an 11-1 victory over the Snappers. The Blazers got off to another great start Thursday morning, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the bottom of the first with a single, followed by a walk by sophomore Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.).

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Vincennes University freshman pitcher Logan Medsker (Marshall, Ill.) had a big day Saturday afternoon on the mound, holding the highly ranked Cobras at bay by allowing only two hits over a career-high seven innings. Medsker’s pitching performance in the series finale allowed VU to close out the weekend with a win after falling in game one of the day 10-5 before picking up the 3-2 victory in game two. The day got off to a slow start at Parkland for the Blazers, with the Cobras getting on the board first in game one of the day.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore center fielder Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) set a new school record for hits in a career Friday afternoon, giving him 163 surpassing Jeffrey Hanna who set the record back in 1989. “Colin has had a great career here,” VU Head Baseball Coach Chris Barney said. “We were fortunate to have him back this year. He plays a great centerfield and is now the career hits leader at VU, so that’s a pretty big feather in his cap. Tip of the cap to him for what he’s accomplished here.” Unfortunately, the rest of the day did not go as well for the Blazers, falling in game one of the day 12-2 and dropping game two 11-1 to No. 12-ranked Parkland College.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team returned to Jerry Blemker Field after being on the road the past two weekends to host a Mid-West Athletic Conference series with Lewis & Clark Community College Saturday evening. Lewis & Clark took game one of the day 8-1 before the host Blazers returned to take game two 3-2 behind six strong innings out of freshman Josh McCormick (Indianapolis, Ind.). The day got off to a great start for Vincennes, with VU getting on the board in the bottom of the first after sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.) walked and later scored on an RBI single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.).

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team continued their stretch of road games Saturday afternoon with the first two games of a four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader at Lincoln Land Community College. The Trailblazers fought hard and held their own throughout the doubleheader but were unable to avoid giving up big innings to the host Loggers as VU fell 9-5 in game one and 9-1 in game two. Game one of the day started out as a pitcher’s duel with both teams trading zeros on the board, with Lincoln Land getting on the board in the second to take a 1-0 lead.

VU got off to an excellent start to the day Tuesday, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a single and later coming around to score on an RBI single by sophomore Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.). The game turned into a low scoring pitcher’s duel with VU breaking the streak of clean innings with another run in the fourth on an RBI single by freshman Kade Hinton (Fort Wayne, Ind.) to give Vincennes a 2-0 lead.

The Trailblazers dropped game one of the day to the Hawks 20-2, before falling in game two 19-10. Vincennes got off to a slow start Saturday, with Heartland setting the tone early and often in game one of the day.

The Trailblazers got the day going right from the beginning by scoring nine runs in the top of the first in game one, sending 13 batters to the plate in the inning, capped off by a three-run home run by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.). Danville Area would get on the board with a run in the first and a run in the second before VU would get those runs back in the third on a two-run home run by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) his fifth long bomb of the season.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team closed out their busy week of playing nine games in nine days by picking up the weekend sweep over Schoolcraft College with a 5-4 victory at Jerry Blemker Field Sunday. The Blazers got off to another slow start Sunday afternoon with the Ocelots scoring in the first inning in all four games this weekend. Schoolcraft pushed one across in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. VU would get on the board in the third after a lead off single by freshman Trevor Newman (Fort Wayne, Ind.).

GALLATIN, Tenn. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team continued their busy week after defeating Oakland City JV Tuesday night at Jerry Blemker Field by heading south to Gallatin to face off against Volunteer State Community College Wednesday afternoon. The Blazers fell behind early after surrendering five runs in the first two innings of play and ultimately fell to the host Pioneers by the final score of 16-3. Volunteer State wasted little time gaining the upper hand Wednesday afternoon, sending 17 batters to the plate in the first two innings and scoring 10 runs on five hits to grab the early lead.

MT. CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team faced their toughest test of this young 2023 spring season Tuesday afternoon after traveling to Mt. Carmel to take on NJCAA Division I No. 8-ranked Wabash Valley College. The Trailblazers got off to another hot start Tuesday afternoon, with leadoff hitter sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) reaching base on an infield single and advancing to second on a throwing error, one of three hits Burdette would have on the day. Burdette was then followed by an RBI double by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.) to put the Blazers on the board first.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball offense is beginning to round into form this weekend after scoring 19 totals runs in two games Saturday at Jerry Blemker Field, VU returned to the field Sunday evening to score 13 more runs in a 13-4 win over Ancilla College. Burdette would end up stranded at third as the Trailblazers were unable to capitalize on this early success.

Vincennes looked to get on the board early and often Saturday afternoon, with the first three batters all reaching base, including an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and a two-RBI single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) to give VU an early 3-0 lead. The Cougars answered back in the bottom of the first, evening the game and getting all three runs back to end the first inning of play tied 3-3.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 2023 Vincennes University baseball season got underway with a bang Friday afternoon with the Trailblazers taking game one of the doubleheader 7-4 before falling in game two 3-0. The VU season started quickly with sophomore second baseman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off game one of the day with a bunt single. Burdette would later score on an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.). Evans would also come around to score after executing a delayed double steal with sophomore Will Egger (Terre Haute, Ind.).
