VU signed Bolingbrook power forward Michael Osei-Bonsu on Tuesday and guards James Locke IV from Sunrise Christian Academy in Bel Aire, Ks. and LeBron Thomas from Trinity Collegiate School in Darlington, S.C. The Trailblazers added a lot of muscle with their signing of six-foot-four, 270-pound Bolingbrook power forward Michael Osei-Bonsu.

The Saints closed out the game on a 24-0 scoring run in the final eight minutes of play to come away with the opening round win. VU fell behind early to Shawnee, quickly trailing by five points before the Blazers used a 9-3 scoring run to take the lead near the midway point of the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes freshmen Darrius Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) each recorded double-doubles in the Trailblazers regular season finale Thursday night with Davis ending with 15 points and 14 rebounds and Jackson’s 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Trailblazers fell 77-68 to the NJCAA Division II No. 15-ranked Henry Ford Hawks despite the two double-doubles. Henry Ford set the tone early, hitting early and often from long-range. The Hawks quickly built a 10-point lead at 17-7.

This game Saturday night was going to be an offensive struggle from the tip, with the Blazers holding a narrow one-point lead midway through the first half. Vincennes gained an advantage late in the first half with a big 16-3 scoring run that gave the Blazers a 12-point, 23-11 lead.

Vincennes again got off to a slow start and quickly fell behind with a couple of early Wabash Valley baskets before the Trailblazers rallied back with a 13-0 run to jump out to a 10 point lead midway through the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Fresh off a nine day break after snow and ice storms postponed all of last week’s games, the VU Trailblazers bounced back from a 20-point loss at Lincoln Trail to claim a 20-point home win over the Shawnee Saints Monday night 71-51. VU freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded his 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Trailblazers to the win. Vincennes set the tone early, scoring the first 11 points of the game.

ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers were on the road Saturday afternoon, as VU traveled to Robinson, Ill. to take on Region 24 rival Lincoln Trail. Vincennes grabbed an early lead but had trouble scoring offensively as the Trailblazers fell 65-45 to the Statesmen. VU looked like they were going to carry over some of the momentum from Wednesday night’s win at Kaskaskia into Saturday, jumping out to a quick 5-2 lead, before Lincoln Trail responded with a 13-3 scoring run.

CENTRALIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers faced a nine-point deficit with 47 seconds to play on the road against the Kaskaskia Blue Devils. Vincennes ramped up the defensive pressure and forced several turnovers by the Blue Devils, which allowed VU freshman Thow James Biel (Calgary, Alberta) to score eight of Vincennes’ final 10 points as the Trailblazers battled all the way back to take a 64-63 lead with 9.9 seconds to play. Kaskaskia’s last second attempt missed wide as the rebound rolled out to midcourt when the buzzer sounded as the Trailblazers came away with a 10-0 scoring run in 37.1 seconds to win 64-63.

Lewis & Clark took control of the game early and held a 15-point lead early in the second half before VU responded to outscore Lewis & Clark 25-8 and close out the 61-59 win on a pair of Brevin Jefferson (Indianapolis, Ind.) free throws with 1.4 seconds to play. Johnson set a new career-high with 31 points in the game and Jackson recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds on the night. VU freshman Grant Brown (Fairmount, Ind.) hit a three-point basket with two seconds remaining on the clock to force overtime, before Lincoln Trail hit a buzzer-beater of their own with 0.8 seconds left in the overtime period to come away with the 65-64 win.

The game stayed close throughout a tough, defensive battle of a first half, with holding the largest lead of the game at 12-7 after a three-point basket by freshman Ketaan Wyatt (Toledo, Ohio).

VINCENNES, Ind – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team made a massive addition to their 2021 recruiting class earlier this week with the signing of NJCAA All-American point guard Justin Warren. Warren comes to VU originally from Chicago, Ill. Warren began his collegiate basketball career at Division II Quincy University before transferring to Highland (IL) Community College last season. As a member of the Cougars this past season, Warren averaged 13 points, five assists and three rebounds per game, which earned him First-Team All-Region 4 and Honorable Mention All-American honors.
