The Trailblazers added a lot of muscle with their signing of six-foot-four, 270-pound Bolingbrook power forward Michael Osei-Bonsu.
INA, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers fell in the Central District Quarterfinals 65-55 to the Shawnee Saints Monday night. The Saints closed out the game on a 24-0 scoring run in the final eight minutes of play to come away with the opening round win. VU fell behind early to Shawnee, quickly trailing by five points before the Blazers used a 9-3 scoring run to take the lead near the midway point of the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes freshmen Darrius Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) and Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) each recorded double-doubles in the Trailblazers regular season finale Thursday night with Davis ending with 15 points and 14 rebounds and Jackson’s 13 points and 11 rebounds. The Trailblazers fell 77-68 to the NJCAA Division II No. 15-ranked Henry Ford Hawks despite the two double-doubles. Henry Ford set the tone early, hitting early and often from long-range. The Hawks quickly built a 10-point lead at 17-7.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers finished off their Region 24 schedule and a stretch of seven games in 12 days for the VU men’s team with a big 56-53 overtime win over the Blue Knights of Olney Central College. This game Saturday night was going to be an offensive struggle from the tip, with the Blazers holding a narrow one-point lead midway through the first half. Vincennes gained an advantage late in the first half with a big 16-3 scoring run that gave the Blazers a 12-point, 23-11 lead.

CARMEL, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers led most of their game Wednesday night at Wabash Valley, looking to pick up a big road win to help boost the Blazers position in the Region 24 standings. The Warriors were aided by a 16-3 scoring run to help push Wabash Valley ahead with five minutes to play as WVC came away with the 66-59 win over Vincennes. Vincennes again got off to a slow start and quickly fell behind with a couple of early Wabash Valley baskets before the Trailblazers rallied back with a 13-0 run to jump out to a 10 point lead midway through the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers bounced back from last night’s loss at Wabash Valley to pick up a 66-59 win over the Blue Storm of Southwestern Illinois. The Trailblazers led the entire game and pulled away late at the free throw line to pick up their 11th win of the season and eighth Region 24 win. Vincennes set the tone early Thursday night as freshman Brevin Jefferson (Indianapolis, Ind.) hit a pair of three’s as part of a Trailblazer 15-3 run to open the game.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers fell to 6-8 on the season in Region 24 play after dropping an 83-63 finish against the Lake Land College Lakers at the P.E. Complex Saturday night. The Trailblazers shot 28-percent from the floor in the second half as the Lakers pulled away late for the 20-point win. Vincennes fell behind quickly from the tip, as turnovers offensively led to easy baskets for the Lakers on the other end of the floor, allowing the Lakers to jump out to an 11-2 lead.
CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers hit the road Wednesday night to face-off against the highly ranked No. 4 John A. Logan Volunteers. The Trailblazers got off to a slow start, turning the ball over several times in the early stages of the game before battling back in the second half but coming up short with a 74-64 loss to the Vols. Vincennes held strong with the top-five ranked Volunteers early in the game before John A. Logan was aided by freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) having to sit with early foul trouble.

VU freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) recorded his 10th double-double of the season, finishing with 22 points and 13 rebounds to lead the Trailblazers to the win. ROBINSON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers were on the road Saturday afternoon, as VU traveled to Robinson, Ill. to take on Region 24 rival Lincoln Trail. Vincennes grabbed an early lead but had trouble scoring offensively as the Trailblazers fell 65-45 to the Statesmen. VU looked like they were going to carry over some of the momentum from Wednesday night’s win at Kaskaskia into Saturday, jumping out to a quick 5-2 lead, before Lincoln Trail responded with a 13-3 scoring run.
CENTRALIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers faced a nine-point deficit with 47 seconds to play on the road against the Kaskaskia Blue Devils. Vincennes ramped up the defensive pressure and forced several turnovers by the Blue Devils, which allowed VU freshman Thow James Biel (Calgary, Alberta) to score eight of Vincennes’ final 10 points as the Trailblazers battled all the way back to take a 64-63 lead with 9.9 seconds to play. Kaskaskia’s last second attempt missed wide as the rebound rolled out to midcourt when the buzzer sounded as the Trailblazers came away with a 10-0 scoring run in 37.1 seconds to win 64-63.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers hosted the Lewis & Clark Trailblazers Saturday night at the P.E. Complex in a Region 24 showdown in the ‘Battle of the Trailblazers’. Lewis & Clark took control of the game early and held a 15-point lead early in the second half before VU responded to outscore Lewis & Clark 25-8 and close out the 61-59 win on a pair of Brevin Jefferson (Indianapolis, Ind.) free throws with 1.4 seconds to play. Vincennes got the game going from the tip, taking an early five point lead in the first three minutes of play before Lewis & Clark answered with an 8-0 scoring run to take the lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The VU Trailblazers had their three-game Region 24 winning streak come to an end Monday night when the Trailblazers fell 73-65 to the Blue Devils of Kaskaskia College. Vincennes got off to another slow start as turnovers offensively allowed the Blue Devils to gain a 12-5 lead midway through the first half. The Trailblazer offense picked up as VU went on a 13-5 scoring run to take an 18-17 lead.
OLNEY, Ill. – Vincennes University freshmen Trenton Johnson (South Bend, Ind.) and Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) led the Trailblazers to their third Region 24 win of the year, beating Olney Central College 72-61 Wednesday night. Johnson set a new career-high with 31 points in the game and Jackson recorded his ninth double-double of the season with 15 points and 12 rebounds on the night. Vincennes got off to a slow start, falling behind early by six points before rallying back to even the score at 17-17 midway through the first half.

Complex over Region 24 opponent Wabash Valley 70-67 Saturday night. MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers ended their six game losing streak Wednesday night when the Blazers picked up a double overtime win at Lake Land College, 87-79. Vincennes got off to a quick start against the Lakers, scoring eight of the first 10 points of the game before Lake Land responded with a 12-2 scoring run of their own to take a four point lead.

Complex and the young Trailblazers held their own with the highly-ranked Volunteers, leading by nine at halftime. Vincennes got off to a slow start early, as the Volunteers jumped out to an early eight point lead at 12-4. Vincennes responded on their home floor with a 15-7 run to even the game at 19-all midway through the first half and took a 20-19 lead with just under eight minutes to go in the opening period.
ULLIN, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers were even more short-handed Wednesday night when the Blazers traveled to take on Shawnee Community College, only using seven players and falling 58-51 to the Saints. Vincennes fell behind early as Shawnee held an 18-4 lead midway through the first half, growing the lead to as many as 15 in the opening half of play. The Trailblazers rallied late to close out the first half on a 9-4 scoring run to cut the deficit to nine points at the break.
BELLEVILLE, Ill – The Vincennes University Trailblazers fell to 0-2 in Region 24 play after a 61-34 loss at Southwestern Illinois Saturday afternoon. VU got off to a slow start against the Blue Storm, falling behind quickly 13-2 to begin the game. The Trailblazers attempted to rally together to keep from falling behind too much but only managed to keep the game at an 11-point margin throughout the rest of the opening half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The opening day of Region 24 play brought plenty of excitement to the Physical Education Complex Wednesday night as the VU Trailblazers hosted Lincoln Trail College. Vincennes jumped out to an early lead and rode the momentum to an 18-point halftime lead, before the Statesmen rallied back to erase the deficit and take a lead late in the second half. VU freshman Grant Brown (Fairmount, Ind.) hit a three-point basket with two seconds remaining on the clock to force overtime, before Lincoln Trail hit a buzzer-beater of their own with 0.8 seconds left in the overtime period to come away with the 65-64 win.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers close out the first month of the season with a 3-7 record after falling to No. 11-ranked Indian Hills Wednesday afternoon 68-40. Vincennes kept the game close into the second half until a 19-5 scoring run aided by some impressive three-point shooting by the Warriors. VU kept the game even for most of the first half with the game tied at 19-all with 4:38 to play in the first half.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers took on the Triton Trojans Tuesday afternoon in the opening game of the 2021 Mattoon Classic at Lake Land College. VU jumped out to an early lead but were unable to hold on as the Trailblazers fell 69-53 to Triton. Vincennes freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) anchored the Blazers offense in the paint on his way to his fourth double-double of the season, ending with 20 points and 13 rebounds.

VINCENNES, Ind – Looking to get one more win at home before hitting the road for the first time, the VU Trailblazers found themselves down by 13 points heading into the locker room at halftime in the P.E. Complex Saturday night. The Trailblazers battled back in the second half, slowly chipping away at the Parkland lead, until VU was finally able to recapture the lead with 2:57 to play. Vincennes would close out the game at the free throw line as the all-freshman lineup from the VU Trailblazers finished off a 77-72 win over the Cobras.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers erased a 17-point first half lead by Danville Area to take the lead midway through the second half but ultimately fell to the Jaguars 55-45 Wednesday night. VU got off to a slow start offensively as the Jaguars used an early 14-0 scoring run to open up a 16-4 lead over the Trailblazers. Danville Area continued to build on this lead before it reached 25-8 midway through the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers fell for the second game in as many days as VU hosted No. 18 Northeast Mississippi Community College on the final day of the McDonald’s Classic 73-59. Northeast Mississippi got off to a fast start from the jump, opening the game on a 13-2 scoring run. Vincennes would battle tough, but after an 8-0 run by the Tigers midway through the opening period put the Blazers down by 19, VU could only manage to play even for the rest of the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers fell behind early against the visiting East Mississippi Community College Lions Friday night and were unable to answer back as the Trailblazers fell 64-50 on the first day of the first annual McDonald’s Classic. East Mississippi took the lead within the first two minutes of the game and Vincennes was never able to regain the lead the rest of the game. The Lions built up a 16-point lead in the first half, before Vincennes would hit a basket to go into the locker room facing a 36-22 deficit.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The VU Trailblazers picked up a late addition to their schedule in Indiana Elite Prep Wednesday night and Vincennes came away with a big 30-point win over the Wolves 74-44. VU freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) finished off his second double-double of his young Trailblazer career with a team-high 21 points and 12 rebounds. Vincennes got their offense rolling early as freshman Thow James Biel (Calgary, Alberta) helped the Blazers grow a 19-7 lead midway through the first half.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team completed the back end of a back-to-back weekend against NJCAA Top-25 teams Saturday against No. 20 Harcum College. The Trailblazers fell for the second time this season as the Bears came away with an 87-61 victory. Vincennes freshman Shilo Jackson (Indianapolis, Ind.) controlled the glass all game for the Blazers as he finished with his second double-double in three games, ending with 12 points and a staggering 17 rebounds.

VINCENNES, Ind. – On the first day of the annual Kiwanis Classic at Vincennes University, the Trailblazers hosted the first of two Top-25 teams this weekend in No. 25 Columbia State Community College. The Trailblazers battled all game, holding a lead midway through the second-half, before the Chargers came away with the 53-47 win. Vincennes jumped on top early against Columbia State, with freshman Darrius Davis (Pittsburgh, Pa.) coming off the bench to score four points in a VU 7-0 scoring run to give the Blazers a 9-5 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team opened their 2021-22 season with a come-from-behind win over Rend Lake College Monday night. VU fell behind by 10 points early in the second half, before climbing all the way back to pick up the 55-46 victory over the Warriors. The game stayed close throughout a tough, defensive battle of a first half, with holding the largest lead of the game at 12-7 after a three-point basket by freshman Ketaan Wyatt (Toledo, Ohio).
VINCENNES, Ind – The Vincennes University men’s basketball team made a massive addition to their 2021 recruiting class earlier this week with the signing of NJCAA All-American point guard Justin Warren. Warren comes to VU originally from Chicago, Ill. Warren began his collegiate basketball career at Division II Quincy University before transferring to Highland (IL) Community College last season. As a member of the Cougars this past season, Warren averaged 13 points, five assists and three rebounds per game, which earned him First-Team All-Region 4 and Honorable Mention All-American honors.
