VINCENNES, Ind. – VU freshman forward Justin Archer was named an NJCAA All-American Honorable mention this week after a big freshman season for the blue and gold. Archer stepped into his role of being the Blazers go-to scorer in the low post this season, leading the team with an average of 11.5 points and 5.8 rebounds per game, while also adding 1.4 blocks per game. VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 20-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers have had a very impressive start to their postseason after getting their second-consecutive wire-to-wire win Wednesday night over Shawnee, 79-49. Vincennes brought the energy from the tip as a Randy Tucker three and a John Ukomadu dunk ignited a 9-0 scoring run to open the game for VU. The lead would hold at nine points midway through the first half, before the Trailblazers went on a 14-3 scoring run to head into the locker room with a 39-24 advantage.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 20-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers started their postseason run with a great showing at home, winning over Kaskaskia 73-47 at the P.E. Complex. The Trailblazers advance to the NJCAA Division I Central District Semi-Finals, where Vincennes will play host to Shawnee Wednesday, April 7, tip-off is scheduled for 7 p.m. eastern. Vincennes took control of the game early, taking the lead in the first two minutes of play and never relinquished it, going on a 13-2 scoring run to take a 13-4 lead.

The tandem got started early, with the pair scoring 19 of Vincennes’ 29 first half points as the Trailblazers grew a seven points lead heading into the break. The low post game allowed open space for more mid-range shots from freshman Brevin Jefferson and Randy Tucker in the second half, as VU continued to grow their lead.
ULLIN, Ill. – Trailblazer sophomore DJ Brewton helped put the team on his back at then of Saturday afternoon’s VU win at Shawnee, scoring Vincennes’ last five points including racing down the court to hit a buzzer beating three to give No. 15 Vincennes the 69-66 win. The first half was a game of scoring runs, with Shawnee taking the lead on a 6-0 scoring run, only for the Trailblazers to match with a 7-2 run to retake the lead, followed by the Saints answering back again with an 8-0 run to put Shawnee up 20-14 midway through the first. Shawnee held their lead throughout the rest of the first half, heading into the locker room ahead 34-28 over Vincennes.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 18-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers avenged another early season loss Saturday when VU hosted Lincoln Trail at the P.E. Complex and came away with the 74-51 victory. Vincennes came out of the gates hitting from three-point range, finishing the first half with six makes from deep from six different players. Randy Tucker, Antonio Watson II, Brevin Jefferson, Brandon Muntu, DJ Brewton and Jaidon Hunter all had the green light from long range Saturday and all six delivered.
MATTOON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers jumped up six spots in the latest NJCAA Division-I rankings this week to No. 18 and continued their winning ways with a strong 78-69 road win at Lake Land College Wednesday night. The first half was a battle at the start, with both teams only able to gain five-point leads midway through the first 20 minutes of play.

VINCENNES, Ind – The No. 24 Vincennes University Trailblazers looked to exact a little bit of revenge Saturday night when VU hosted No. 20 Olney Central at the P.E. Complex. Vincennes fell in the first matchup between these two teams earlier this season 79-70 in Olney, giving the Trailblazers their first loss of the season.

VU grabbed their second win of the week by the final score of 79-64. The first half was the back-and-forth battle we’ve come to expect in Region 24, with the lead changing hands five times and Vincennes having their largest lead of nine midway through the half.

That ranking will likely not stand next week as the Blazers fell for the first time this season on the road to Olney Central 79-70.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The No. 9-ranked Vincennes University Trailblazers opened up the 2021 season at home against Dohn Prep of Cincinnati and came away with the 83-66 win. This marks the first regular-season or postseason game the Blazers have played in over 10 months and early on the rust factor showed. VU had to battle early with Dohn Prep, with the Blazers falling behind by as much as six points during the opening period of play, before battling back and a lay up by freshman Brandon Muntu helped give Vincennes the 36-34 lead at the break.
