CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – The 2024 Vincennes University Spring regular season came to a close Sunday evening as the Blazers headed up to Champaign for the final two games of their four-game split Mid-West Athletic Conference series with Parkland College. The Trailblazers held early leads in both games Sunday but came out on the wrong end of a 9-3 final score in game one and a 10-6 final score in 11 innings in game two. Vincennes managed to get a lead-off single by sophomore Carter Whitehead (Huntingburg, Ind.) in the first and a one-out single by sophomore Trevor Newman (Fort Wayne, Ind.) in the second but were unable to move those runners into scoring position.
CANTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team opened their weekend Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series at Spoon River College Saturday afternoon with an excellent pitching performance by freshman Carson Allen (Louisville, Ky.). Allen would throw a nine-inning complete game in game one of the doubleheader to guide the Trailblazers to a 9-3 win. This is the first nine-inning complete game for the Trailblazers since May 2, 2021, when Sam Steimel threw a nine-inning shutout at Parkland College.

VU took advantage of two seven run innings to come away on top by the final score 14-5. The VU offense was held in check by some really good pitching by the Warriors, with VU getting their first base runner in the third on a walk by sophomore Carter Whitehead (Huntingburg, Ind.).

Eight of the first nine VU batters reached base safely and the Blazers were able to score on an RBI single by sophomore Brandon Juarez (Evansville, Ind.), a walk pitch and back-to-back RBI singles by freshmen Reed Drabant (Columbia, Ill.) and Jaydon Bradbury (Terre Haute, Ind.).

VU got off to a fast start Sunday morning, breaking open the scoring in the bottom of the first with an RBI single by redshirt freshman Holden Clifton (Louisville, Ill.) and a two RBI single by freshman Nate Montgomery (Lexington, Ind.).
VINCENNES, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore starting pitcher Logan Medsker (Marshall, Ill.) wasted little time breaking his new career-high in strikeouts from last weekend, coming out Friday night against the No. 12-ranked Kellogg Community College Bruins and setting a new career-high with 11 strikeouts on the game. Medsker’s excellent pitching performance helped guide the Trailblazers to a 2-1 upset victory over the Bruins to kick off another busy weekend of Junior College baseball at Jerry Blemker Field. The game began as another pitcher’s duel for the Trailblazers, with both offenses held scoreless through the first three innings.
OAKLAND CITY, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team got back in the win column Tuesday night when the Blazers traveled to Oakland City University to take on the Mighty Oaks JV squad. The Trailblazers picked up some big hitting, including solo home runs by sophomores Brandon Juarez (Evansville, Ind.) and Jack Robinson (Mooresville, Ind.) as the Blazers came away with the 7-2 victory. Vincennes broke open the scoring in a big way in the second inning, with Brandon Juarez leading off the inning with a solo home run, the first of his VU career, to put the Blazers on top 1-0.
VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team hit the diamond for another busy day of baseball Saturday at Jerry Blemker Field. The Trailblazers kicked off their split doubleheader day by falling to Olney Central College 8-1 before bouncing back to close out the day with a big 12-2 win over NJCAA Division III No. 7-ranked Joliet Junior College. VU’s offense came alive with a big six run inning against Joliet, which helped propel the Blazers to a run-rule, walk-off victory.
CARTERVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team has opened their 2024 regular season with six straight games against NJCAA Division I opponents including Monday’s doubleheader vs. South Suburban College from South Holland, Ill. The doubleheader was originally scheduled to take place at VU’s Jerry Blemker Field, but was moved to John A. Logan College in Carterville, Ill. Saturday morning due to the snow in Vincennes on Friday. The Trailblazer bats took a little bit to get going and VU ultimately dropped the doubleheader to the Bulldogs 10-0 and 9-4.
