NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season came to a quick end Wednesday night with the Trailblazers falling in the opening round game to No. 11 Parkland 10-4 before falling to Lincoln Land in the elimination game 13-9. The day got off to a great start for the Trailblazers, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game against Parkland with a single, stealing second and coming in to score on a sacrifice fly by sophomore Colin Long to put the Blazers on the board in the first. Parkland would even the score with a run in the second before VU answered back to grab the lead back in the third on an RBI single by Long.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -The Vincennes University baseball team closed out the weekend with a bang Sunday at Lincoln Land Community College, completing the daily sweep to even the Mid-West Athletic Conference series with the Loggers, taking game one 2-1 before winning game two 7-4. The first game of the day in Springfield proved to be a pitcher’s duel from the beginning with neither team registering a hit until the fifth inning. VU was the first to break the scoreless tie with a leadoff single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.). Long came around to score on a fielder’s choice put in play by sophomore Mahkai Pelzer (Douglasville, Ga.).

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team continued their stretch of road games Saturday afternoon with the first two games of a four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference doubleheader at Lincoln Land Community College. The Trailblazers fought hard and held their own throughout the doubleheader but were unable to avoid giving up big innings to the host Loggers as VU fell 9-5 in game one and 9-1 in game two. Game one of the day started out as a pitcher’s duel with both teams trading zeros on the board, with Lincoln Land getting on the board in the second to take a 1-0 lead.

QUINCY, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers closed out another Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series Tuesday afternoon at John Wood Community College and came away with the doubleheader split, winning the first game 5-2 before falling in game two of the day 14-6. VU got off to an excellent start to the day Tuesday, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a single and later coming around to score on an RBI single by sophomore Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.). The game turned into a low scoring pitcher’s duel with VU breaking the streak of clean innings with another run in the fourth on an RBI single by freshman Kade Hinton (Fort Wayne, Ind.) to give Vincennes a 2-0 lead.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team was unable to overcome mistakes and free bases Friday evening in Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) doubleheader, falling to No. 2 Heartland Community College 8-3 and 10-3. The two teams began the day by trading zeros on the board for the first third of game number one of the day. Each team’s starting pitcher was able to make it through the first three innings of play without allowing a run. The Hawks would be the first to break the 0-0 tie with a run in the fourth. VU would answer back in the 5th after a walk by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.), a double by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and a walk to load the bases by freshman Carter Whitehead (Huntingburg, Ind.) was followed by a two-RBI pinch hit single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) to give the Blazers a 2-1 lead of the No. 2-ranked team in the country.

DANVILLE, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team extended their winning streak to eight games with another Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) doubleheader sweep at Danville Area Community College Tuesday, winning game one of the day 18-6 and taking game two 19-11. The Trailblazers got the day going right from the beginning by scoring nine runs in the top of the first in game one, sending 13 batters to the plate in the inning, capped off by a three-run home run by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.). Danville Area would get on the board with a run in the first and a run in the second before VU would get those runs back in the third on a two-run home run by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) his fifth long bomb of the season.

The Blazers got off to another slow start Sunday afternoon with the Ocelots scoring in the first inning in all four games this weekend. Schoolcraft pushed one across in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. VU would get on the board in the third after a lead off single by freshman Trevor Newman (Fort Wayne, Ind.).

VU took down the Ocelots in comeback fashion in game one of the day 5-4 before coming back and picking up the six-inning run-rule 15-5 victory in game two. The Trailblazers got off to a slow start Saturday afternoon, with Schoolcraft responding back after being run ruled Friday night to score three runs in the first.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team ended their long four-game weekend Sunday afternoon with what is possibly their most complete game as a team with a 12-4 win over Morton College at Jerry Blemker Field. VU got off to a slow start with the Panthers getting a run on the board quickly after a leadoff double in the first. The Trailblazers didn’t waste any time getting this run back in the bottom half of the inning however with sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a hit by pitch and scoring from first on an RBI double by sophomore Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.).
