VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team punched their ticket to the 2023 Mid-West Athletic Conference tournament Thursday afternoon with a sweep of the first two games of the final four-game weekend conference series of the regular season against Spoon River. VU picked up the win in game one of the day 12-2 before coming back in game two and ending the day with an 11-1 victory over the Snappers. The Blazers got off to another great start Thursday morning, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the bottom of the first with a single, followed by a walk by sophomore Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.).

CHAMPAIGN, Ill. – Vincennes University freshman pitcher Logan Medsker (Marshall, Ill.) had a big day Saturday afternoon on the mound, holding the highly ranked Cobras at bay by allowing only two hits over a career-high seven innings. Medsker’s pitching performance in the series finale allowed VU to close out the weekend with a win after falling in game one of the day 10-5 before picking up the 3-2 victory in game two. The day got off to a slow start at Parkland for the Blazers, with the Cobras getting on the board first in game one of the day.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team battled through some rough weather conditions, including two 30-minute lightning delays to split the weekend Mid-West Athletic Conference series with Lewis & Clark. Vincennes took game one 8-4 after scoring four runs in the sixth, before falling in game two of the day 5-4. The Trailblazers again got the day started on a good note with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading the way with a single in the bottom of the first.

SPRINGFIELD, Ill. -The Vincennes University baseball team closed out the weekend with a bang Sunday at Lincoln Land Community College, completing the daily sweep to even the Mid-West Athletic Conference series with the Loggers, taking game one 2-1 before winning game two 7-4. The first game of the day in Springfield proved to be a pitcher’s duel from the beginning with neither team registering a hit until the fifth inning. VU was the first to break the scoreless tie with a leadoff single by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.). Long came around to score on a fielder’s choice put in play by sophomore Mahkai Pelzer (Douglasville, Ga.).

QUINCY, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team opened up another Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series Monday afternoon at John Wood Community College and fell 11-1 in game one and 11-2 in game two. The day got off to a rough start for the visiting Trailblazers with John Wood picking up the early lead with a pair of runs in the first two innings and took a commanding lead with a six-run third inning to grab a 10-0 advantage. VU would get on the board in the fourth after sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) led off the inning with a triple. Evans would later score on an RBI single by Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.).

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers returned to Jerry Blemker Field Saturday afternoon for the final two games of this weekend’s four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series with No. 2 Heartland Community College. The Trailblazers dropped game one of the day to the Hawks 20-2, before falling in game two 19-10. Vincennes got off to a slow start Saturday, with Heartland setting the tone early and often in game one of the day.

FAIRFIELD, Ill. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team looked to pick up their second road win over an NJCAA Division I opponent in as many days and held their own with the Bobcats of Frontier CC. Vincennes had some issues in the field in the first inning, which allowed Frontier to score three runs in the first, which would be the difference as VU fell by the final score of 4-2. The Trailblazers got on the board quickly Thursday night, with sophomore leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a single.

OLNEY, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team put a rough weekend behind them Wednesday after picking up a big road win at Olney Central College by the final score 12-6. VU freshman Kade Hinton (Fort Wayne, Ind.) hit a big grand slam in the eighth inning to extend the VU lead as the Blazers came away with the win against an NJCAA Division I opponent. The Blazers got on the board early at Olney Central, scoring in the second on an RBI single by freshman Jack Robinson (Mooresville, Ind.).

PEORIA, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball team closed out their four-game Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series at Illinois Central Monday afternoon and fell in the doubleheader, dropping game one 7-5 before falling in game two of the day 8-2. The Trailblazers got off to a really good start Monday, with leadoff hitter, sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off the game with a single, stealing second base and later scoring on a throwing error to give the Blazers a 1-0 lead. Illinois Central would get this run back in the bottom half of the first, before VU would score in the second after sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) led off the inning by being hit by a pitch and later scoring on an RBI single by freshman Kade Hinton (Fort Wayne, Ind.) to take the lead back.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team began their Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) season Monday afternoon at Jerry Blemker Field and it could not have started better for VU, winning game one over Danville Area 12-2 and taking game two 7-4. The Blazers took control of the day early in game one on their home field, scoring three runs in the first inning on three straight RBI singles started by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.) and followed by freshman Carter Whitehead (Huntingburg, Ind.) and sophomore Kobe Bartlett (Rockport, Ind.). VU would add to their lead in the second after a leadoff walk by sophomore Mahkai Pelzer (Douglasville, Ga.). Pelzer would come around to score on an RBI single by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.).

The Blazers got off to another slow start Sunday afternoon with the Ocelots scoring in the first inning in all four games this weekend. Schoolcraft pushed one across in the first to take the early 1-0 lead. VU would get on the board in the third after a lead off single by freshman Trevor Newman (Fort Wayne, Ind.).

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team is not taking any time off this week while the rest of the University is on Spring Break. The VU baseball club is slated to play six games in six days this week starting with Tuesday night’s 17-7 win over Oakland City JV at Jerry Blemker Field. The day did not get off to a great start for the Blue and Gold with Oakland City jump on the scoreboard in the top of the first with a pair of runs.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team picked up a big bounce back win Sunday afternoon at Jerry Blemker Field, rallying back from down 6-1 in the bottom of the seventh to score six runs in the inning and pick up the walk-off 7-6 win over Lincoln Trail College. The Blazers then turned around for the night game of the Sunday doubleheader and fell to the NJCAA Division I No. 10-ranked Wabash Valley Warriors by the score of 16-5. The day got off to a great start for the Blazers at Jerry Blemker Field. After a clean top of the first by freshman starting pitcher Josh McCormick (Indianapolis, Ind.), the Blazers led off the bottom half of the inning with back-to-back walks by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) and Kaden Elliott (New Albany, Ind.).

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University baseball team has hit a rough patch early in the spring 2023 season and it continued into Saturday’s split doubleheader at Jerry Blemker Field. The Trailblazers fell to Morton College in the morning game of the day 10-7 and fell to NJCAA Division III No. 13-ranked Joliet Junior College 12-9 in the final game of the night. The day got off to a rocky start for the Trailblazers with Morton College putting up six runs in the top of the first inning.

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazer baseball team opened the doors at Jerry Blemker Field for the first time this spring and ended up falling to Frontier College 8-1. The home season opener got off to a pretty good start after a clean three-up, three-down top of the first, the Trailblazers got their first two hitters on base with a leadoff single by sophomore Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) and a walk by sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.). Burdette would end up stranded at third as the Trailblazers were unable to capitalize on this early success.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – The 2023 Vincennes University baseball season got underway with a bang Friday afternoon with the Trailblazers taking game one of the doubleheader 7-4 before falling in game two 3-0. The VU season started quickly with sophomore second baseman Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) leading off game one of the day with a bunt single. Burdette would later score on an RBI single by sophomore Colton Evans (Henderson, Ky.). Evans would also come around to score after executing a delayed double steal with sophomore Will Egger (Terre Haute, Ind.).
