NORMAL, Ill. – The Vincennes University baseball season likely came to a close Thursday afternoon at the Corn Crib in Normal, Ill. with the No. 5 seed Blazers falling 6-5 to No. 3-seed Parkland College in an elimination game at the Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) tournament. The game Thursday began almost exactly like VU’s opening round game against Danville Area with Vincennes trailing early after Parkland hit a three-run home run in the first inning. VU would get a run back in the second however, after a leadoff triple by sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.). VanLannen would later score on a groundout by freshman Jordan Roth (Delphi, Ind.).

VINCENNES, Ind. – The Vincennes University Trailblazers closed out their four-game weekend Mid-West Athletic Conference (MWAC) series with Danville Area Sunday afternoon with a grueling 7-6 win, which saw the Trailblazers use 17 players throughout the game. The Jaguars took game one of the day 7-5 before Vincennes closed out the weekend with the 7-6 game two victory. The first game of the day saw Vincennes grab an early lead, with sophomore Colin Long (Evansville, Ind.) getting a single in the first inning and would later score on a balk to give the Blazers the early 1-0 lead.

The Loggers picked up the first win of the day, taking game three of the series 13-2 before VU rallied back to finish the weekend by taking game four 4-2 with Vincennes starter sophomore Kestler Harbuck (Brooksville, Fla.) threw seven innings allowing only one hit. Lincoln Land began the day with a bang Sunday afternoon, jumping out to an early lead after scoring three runs in the first inning and two in the second.

CLEVELAND, Tenn. – Vincennes sophomore Connor VanLannen (Clinton, Ind.) took the mound for Sunday’s game of the Trailblazers three-game weekend set with the Cougars of Cleveland State Community College and did not allow a hit in his five innings of work. The Trailblazers were led by their starting pitching and got some big at-bats at the plate but were ultimately swept in the third-game series 7-4, 4-1, 6-5. The weekend series began Saturday with a doubleheader and VU wasted little time at the plate, with leadoff hitter Ethan Burdette (Linton, Ind.) beginning the season with a single.
