Trailblazer golf tees off Spring season with Logan Invitational

Trailblazer golf tees off Spring season with Logan Invitational

MARION, Ill – The Vincennes University golf team started their spring season at the very difficult Kokopelli Golf Course with the John A. Logan Invitational.

Day one of this two-day Invite got of to an odd start. After the first two groups teed off a groundskeeper moved a tee marker on one of the tee's, which wasn't discovered until the end of the round.

The entire first round of day one was then cancelled and the scored would not be counted.

Day one continued with the second round of the day with Blazer Bryce Kirschner posting a round of 76, followed by Matt Jordan and Cole Parmer. Jordan finished with an 87 and Parmer with an 89.

Noah Crays and Brock Craney round out the Vincennes opening round with Crays shooting a 94 and Craney finishing with a 95.

The Trailblazers returned the following day for the final round of the first Invitational of the season and saw three Blazers improve on their day one scores.

Matt Jordan, Cole Parmer and Noah Crays all improved on their first round scores with Jordan posting an 86, Parmer 85 and Crays 85.

Kirschner again led Vincennes with a second round 83 and Brock Craney finished with a 97.

VU as a team finished eighth out of 10 teams in the windy conditions.

Trailblazer golf coach Dennis Chattin does expect his team's to continue to improve this year. Saying, "It's early and unlike some teams, we haven't had an opportunity to practice with the snow."

Vincennes will be in action March 20 and 21 at the Rend Lake Spring Invite at Franklin Co. Country Club in West Frankfort, Ill.
