VU third baseman Max Flock signs to play at Georgetown College

VINCENNES, Ind. – Trailblazer sophomore third baseman Max Flock signed to continue his baseball career at NAIA Georgetown College in Kentucky next season.

Flock was a third-year member of the Trailblazer baseball team, who finished his career with the blue and gold with a .250 batting average, nine home runs, eight coming this season and 42 runs batted in.

"I chose to come to Vincennes because I thought VU would be a good place for me to grow as a student and a baseball player," Flock said.

Flock had his best season with the Trailblazers this spring, finishing with eight home runs, 24 RBIs and 25 walks, with 16 of his 31 hits in 2021 coming as extra-base hits.

Flock set career-highs in batting average, on-base percentage and slugging percentage in 2021 as he helped the Blazers finish the season with a 24-31 record.

Flock earned NJCAA Division II Player of the Week honors in the final week of the regular season after hitting four home runs in four games against Spoon River, including two in the final game of the regular season that helped VU get into the MWAC conference baseball tournament.

"My experiences at Vincennes have made me grow in multiple ways," Flock added. "In the classroom, I know what to expect from college level classes. Athletically, after playing three seasons, I'm becoming accustomed to what college baseball is like."

Flock will be joining a Georgetown squad that posted an impressive 35-18 record in 2021 and finished a game away from a Mid-South Conference Championship game appearance.

The Tigers are led by head coach Micah Baumfeld, who has led Georgetown to 328 wins in his 10 seasons as head coach, including a 177-62 record at home.

"I chose Georgetown College because it is a good academic school," Flock said. "I really like their baseball program and what they have to offer."
