  • Broce qualifies for Nationals, Blazers take 6th at Region 24 Tournament

    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University Golf team closed out the 2024 Region 24 tournament Tuesday at Weibring Golf Course in Bloomington, Ill. The two-day, 54-hole tournament got off to a rocky start, with the opening round Monday being delayed by rain and moving the second round of the tournament to be played on Tuesday. VU freshman Alex Nealis (Olney, Ill.) got off to a great start to the tournament Monday in the opening round, shooting a first round two-over 73 to leave him in a tie for ninth place after the first day.
  • Broce wins, Blazers take third at 2024 VU Spring Invitational

    MONTGOMERY, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) used the home course to his advantage over the weekend as he posted the lowest score at the two-day 2024 VU Spring Invitational at Country Oaks Golf Course in Montgomery. Broce was off to another great start in the opening round Saturday, posting a three-over 75, which put him one shot back of the leader. Broce then returned Sunday morning to shoot and even par 72 in the final round, giving him a tournament total of 147 and claiming his first collegiate tournament victory at Vincennes University.
  • VU Golf team takes third at Battle of the Woods

    TERRE HAUTE, Ind. – The Vincennes University golf team got their top two scorers back this weekend for the two-day Battle of the Woods tournament at Hulman Links in Terre Haute. While they were still battling lingering injuries, the Trailblazers showed tremendous improvement on another tough course in windy conditions to come away with a third-place finish as a team. The two-day, 36-hole tournament began Saturday morning with the first round and the Blazers looked to be in great shape after the first 18 holes of the tournament.
  • VU Golf continues to battle in poor conditions

    NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Golf team had another tough tournament this week at the 2024 Garn Championships hosted at the Keene Trace Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. The Blazers battled through wind and rain to place 21st on a very challenging golf course, which hosts the PGA’s Barbasol Championship each July. The first two rounds of this 54-hole tournament were scheduled to be played on Monday, but round two ultimately needed to be finished Tuesday morning due to darkness.
  • Trailblazer Golf battles wind and cold in Spring season opener

    ADAIRSVILLE, Ga. – The Vincennes University Golf team opened their 2024 Spring season earlier this week, heading down to Adairsville, Ga. to take part in the Battle at Barnsley at the Barnsley Resort. The VU golf team faced some early season struggles, while also battling tough conditions of wind and cold on a tough golf course. The Blazers closed out the 54-hole, two-day tournament Tuesday afternoon with a 12th place finish.
  • Nealis finishes Top-10 at unique Rend Lake Fall Invitational

    WHITTINGTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University golf team was short handed earlier this week when the Blazers headed to the Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Ill. for the 2023 Rend Lake College Fall Invitational. Entering this tournament without sophomore Aaron Brink (Nashville, Ill.) who injured his wrist last tournament, VU Hall of Fame Golf Coach Dennis Chattin looked to see who would be the one to step up in his place. The tournament was a two-day, 54-hole tournament, consisting of two 27-hole days as Rend Lake Golf Course includes three nine-hole courses.
  • VU Golf takes fifth at Mid-West Athletic Conference Fall Preview

    BLOOMINGTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University golf team got their first look at the course hosting the Mid-West Athletic Conference tournament in the spring this week, traveling to Crestwicke Country Club in Bloomington, Ill. The Blazers came away with a fifth-place finish in the 36-hole, one day event, in a closely packed leaderboard. VU sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) was the low-man for the Blazers Monday, coming up with his third top-10 finish of the fall season after shooting a four-over 76 in round one and a six-over 78 in round two, good for seventh place overall.
  • Trailblazer Golf has three Top-12 finishers at Danville Invitational

    DANVILLE, Ill. – The 2023 Vincennes University fall golf season continues to roll on as the Blazers took part in the one-day, 36-hole Danville Invitational at the Danville Country Club Monday. VU had a very good showing with three Trailblazer golfers placing in the top 12 for the tournament. Vincennes was led by sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) who came out firing in the first round of the day, shooting an even par 71.
  • Broce places Top-10 as Blazers host VU Fall Invitational Tournament

    MONTGOMERY, Ind. – The Vincennes University golf team is beginning to pick up steam for the 2023 Fall season as the Trailblazers host the 2023 VU Fall Invitational at Country Oaks Golf Club in Montgomery Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10. Sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) headlined the Trailblazers during the tournament, placing eighth overall after two rounds of one-over par 73, giving him a tournament score of 146. Freshman Alex Nealis (Olney, Ill.) was the next VU scorer, shooting a first round 75 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday to place 19th overall.
  • 21 Trailblazers named to NJCAA All-Academic Teams

    VINCENNES, Ind. – The National Junior College Athletic Association (NJCAA) announced their 2022-23 All-Academic Teams Monday morning and the list of over 10,000 student-athletes featured 21 Vincennes University Trailblazers. VU had six student-athletes named to the All-Academic First Team, earning a GPA of 4.00 during the 2022-23 academic year. Eight student-athletes were named to the Second Team with a GPA between 3.80 and 3.99 and seven named to the Third Team with a GPA between 3.60 and 3.79. Vincennes University and the VU Athletic Department are proud of the hard work and dedication these student-athletes have shown not only on the competition field, but in the classroom as well.
