  • Russell takes seventh, Blazers Bowling season ends at USBC Sectionals

    SMYRNA, Tenn. – The 2023-24 Vincennes University bowling season came to an end over the weekend at the United States Bowling Congress Intercollegiate Singles and Team Championship Sectionals hosted at the Smyrna Bowling Center in Tennessee. VU freshman Cayden Russell (Noblesville, Ind.) led the charge for the Trailblazers at Friday’s Singles Championships, finishing with a total of 1,343 pins over six games and just missed the cut to advance to Nationals by only seven pins. Russell got the weekend off to a great start by finishing all six games with over 200 pins, including a best game of 255 to place seventh out of 171 bowlers competing.
  • Trailblazer bowling headed to USBC Sectionals

    VINCENNES, ind. – The Vincennes University men’s bowling team eagerly awaited their Sectional placement for the 2024 United State Bowling Congress (USBC) Intercollegiate Team Championships (ITC) Sectional draw. The Trailblazers earned a spot on the Smyrna Sectional hosted at Smyrna Bowling Center in Smyrna, Tenn. The 2024 USBC Sectionals will begin Friday, March 8 with the Intercollegiate Singles Championship (ISC) qualifier, where members of the VU bowling team will compete in six singles games, with 24 bowlers advancing to the 2024 ISC finals. The top four from each Sectional and eight additional individuals based on field size.
  • VU Bowling wins at AHBA Conference Championships

    MONROE, Mich. – The Vincennes University bowling team battled from behind to win Sunday’s American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) Conference Championship in Monroe, Mich. The tournament had a very unique format, consisting of 30 baker games broken down into five six-game blocks and one regular team game. The Blazers found themselves in seventh place overall out of 17 teams competing after the first six baker games but were able to work their way up to second place after the fourth baker block.
  • Trailblazer Bowling back in action after two tournament weekend

    LOUISVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University bowling team were back in action this past weekend when the Trailblazers took part in the MSC Lynne Jordan Memorial tournament Saturday, Jan. 20 and the MSC Thomas N. Burris Memorial tournament Sunday, Jan. 21. Both tournaments held at Kingpin Lanes in Louisville. This was the first tournament action for the Blazers since Dec. 2 and the Blazers looked to show no signs of rust early on in the Lynne Jordan Memorial. The VU varsity team was headlined Saturday by freshman and Louisville native Dylan Lewis (Louisville, Ky.) who finished his five traditional games with a total of 1,031 and a scoring average of 206.2 to place 32nd overall out of 216 bowlers.
  • Trailblazes get three Top-10 finishers at AHBA tournament

    FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The Vincennes University bowling team closed out the 2023 portion of their schedule over the weekend by taking part in their second American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) tournament of the season at Thunderbowl Lanes in Fort Wayne Saturday. The Trailblazers matched their best team finish of the season, finishing third out of 10 teams and having three VU bowlers finish in the Top-10 overall. The one day tournament consisted of four conventional games, followed by 16 baker games.
  • VU Bowling claims 19th place at McKendree Match Games

    FAIRVIEW HEIGHTS, Ill. – The Vincennes University bowling team faced another tough tournament over the weekend with the Tier 1 McKendree Match Games hosted by McKendree University in Illinois. The two-day tournament consisted of five traditional games followed by 20 baker games Saturday and Sunday. The Trailblazers were led over the weekend by freshman Cayden Russell (Noblesville, Ind.) who finished with a score of 978 over his five traditional games, for a team-high average of 195.6 pins per game to place 39th overall out of 223 bowlers.
  • VU bowler Brighton Lucas wins at AHBA tournament, Trailblazers place third

    COLUMBUS, Ohio – Vincennes University junior Brighton Lucas (Salem, Ill.) led the Trailblazer bowling team in a big way Saturday at the American Heartland Bowling Association (AHBA) tournament in Columbus. Lucas finished his five traditional games with a total of 1,208 pins and an average of 241.6 per game to claim the individual tournament win in a field of 102 varsity bowlers. Lucas quickly climbed up the leaderboard Saturday in large part from his last three games. Lucas scored 803 in his final three games, a game of 278 and an average score of 267.7 in those three games.
  • Trailblazer Bowling takes seventh at 2023 Boilermaker Classic

    LAFAYETTE, Ind. – The Vincennes University Bowling team had another excellent showing this weekend at the annual Boilermaker Classic hosted at Arrowhead Bowl in Lafayette Saturday and Sunday. The VU Varsity team came away with a seventh place finish out of 13 teams competing, while the Junior Varsity team placed fourth out of seven after five traditional games Saturday and 16 baker games on Sunday. The Vincennes Varsity team was led by freshman Cayden Russell (Noblesville, Ind.), who finished with an individual score of 981 in five games, for a scoring average of 196.2 per game.
  • Trailblazer Bowling season continues to roll on with Columbia 300 Western Shootout

    INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – The 2023-24 Vincennes University bowling season continues to roll along as the Blazers took part in the Columbia 300 Western Shootout this past weekend at Royal Pin Western in Indianapolis. VU came away with a 23rd place finish overall out of 32 teams competing after six traditional games on Saturday and 16 baker games on Sunday. Vincennes was led by freshman Nicholas Gregg (Salem, Ill.) who finished Saturday with 1,307 pins and an average score of 218 in his six rounds.
  • Trailblazer Bowling finishes 18th at Midwest Collegiate Championships

    WAUWATOSA, Wis. – The Vincennes University men’s bowling season continues to roll on as the Trailblazers traveled to Wisconsin over the weekend to take part in the Midwest Collegiate Championships hosted at Bowlero Wauwatosa. The two-day tournament consisted of six traditional games on Saturday, before returning to the lanes Sunday for 16 baker games. The Blazers came away with an 18th-place finish out of 47 teams competing in this Tier I tournament, finishing with a score of 5,837 in the traditional games and 3,146 in the baker games for a tournament score of 8,983.
  • Trailblazer Bowling season off to good start after Dirty Bird Classic

    JACKSON, Mich. – The young Vincennes University bowling team had a good showing in their first tournament of the 2023-24 season Saturday when the Trailblazers took part in the Dirty Bird Classic at JAX60 in Jackson, Mich. The VU varsity men’s bowling team placed eighth out of 11 teams competing and the junior varsity team placed sixth out of 10 teams. Vincennes’ varsity team was headlined by freshman Cayden Russell (Noblesville, Ind.) who bowled a 159, 208 and a 201 in the three games for a combined score of 568, good for 15th overall as an individual.
