Coach Dennis Chattin enters his 22nd season as head coach of Vincennes University Men’s Golf in 2025-26, where he has developed one of the most dominant and consistent programs in NJCAA history. Over two decades, Chattin has transformed the Trailblazers into a national powerhouse, leading them to three NJCAA Division III National Championships—in 2013, 2016, and 2018—firmly establishing Vincennes among the elite junior college golf programs.
Continuing that tradition of strong competition, Vincennes finished fifth in the highly competitive NJCAA Region 24 Championship during the 2024-25 season. Freshman Landon Gardner (Danvillle, IN) led the team with rounds of 77 and 80 over the 54-hole, two-day tournament. His solid performance earned him the opportunity to represent the Trailblazers at the 2025 NJCAA National Championship in Plymouth, Indiana, where he finished 56th individually.
The program’s championship success began in 2013, when the team posted a strong three-round total of 910 (+46) at the national tournament in Pueblo, Colorado. The Trailblazers edged out Sandhills Community College by just four strokes to claim their first-ever national title. Vincennes followed with a commanding performance in 2016, fueled by Ian Weyer’s standout individual score of 218, securing the team’s second national crown. The 2018 championship completed the program’s trifecta, highlighted by Keegan McCullough’s exceptional individual medalist finish of 207.
Beyond these championships, Coach Chattin’s teams have regularly contended at the national level, including top-10 finishes such as third place in 2008, fifth in 2012, and seventh in 2009. His consistent leadership and ability to develop talent have made Vincennes a perennial contender.
Chattin’s coaching excellence has been recognized with three NJCAA National Coach of the Tournament awards (2013, 2016, 2018) and six NJCAA Region Coach of the Year honors (2008, 2009, 2012, 2013, 2016, 2018). Under his guidance, the Trailblazers have won six NJCAA Region Championships, while 12 players have earned NJCAA All-American status. In 2022, Chattin was inducted into the NJCAA Men’s Golf Coaches Association Hall of Fame, honoring his sustained excellence and impact on collegiate golf. Most recently, in 2025, he was awarded the prestigious NJCAA Legacy Award, further solidifying his legacy as one of the most respected figures in junior college athletics.
Chattin holds a Master’s degree in Math Education from Indiana State University. Before taking the helm of VU men’s golf, he spent 10 years at North Knox High School, where he served as head golf coach and assistant basketball coach. Alongside his coaching career, he spent over 20 years in the insurance industry with Farm Bureau Insurance, holding roles such as Regional Sales Manager and local agent, demonstrating his leadership and management skills beyond sports.
Off the course, Chattin is an entrepreneur, owning All-American Car Wash, Liberty Car Wash, and Uncle Sam’s Car Wash in Vincennes. He and his wife, Beth, a realtor with F.C. Tucker, have two adult children: Ryan, a former Ball State University golf MVP and current co-owner of Goosehead Insurance; and Brooke, a former North Knox basketball player now working with Grifols Plasma Infusion Company. Additionally, Chattin’s granddaughter, Addison Chattin was named Miss Indiana’s Teen 2025.
