MONTGOMERY, Ind. – Vincennes University sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) used the home course to his advantage over the weekend as he posted the lowest score at the two-day 2024 VU Spring Invitational at Country Oaks Golf Course in Montgomery. Broce was off to another great start in the opening round Saturday, posting a three-over 75, which put him one shot back of the leader. Broce then returned Sunday morning to shoot and even par 72 in the final round, giving him a tournament total of 147 and claiming his first collegiate tournament victory at Vincennes University.
NICHOLASVILLE, Ky. – The Vincennes University Golf team had another tough tournament this week at the 2024 Garn Championships hosted at the Keene Trace Golf Club Monday and Tuesday. The Blazers battled through wind and rain to place 21st on a very challenging golf course, which hosts the PGA’s Barbasol Championship each July. The first two rounds of this 54-hole tournament were scheduled to be played on Monday, but round two ultimately needed to be finished Tuesday morning due to darkness.
WHITTINGTON, Ill. – The Vincennes University golf team was short handed earlier this week when the Blazers headed to the Rend Lake Golf Course in Whittington, Ill. for the 2023 Rend Lake College Fall Invitational. Entering this tournament without sophomore Aaron Brink (Nashville, Ill.) who injured his wrist last tournament, VU Hall of Fame Golf Coach Dennis Chattin looked to see who would be the one to step up in his place. The tournament was a two-day, 54-hole tournament, consisting of two 27-hole days as Rend Lake Golf Course includes three nine-hole courses.
MONTGOMERY, Ind. – The Vincennes University golf team is beginning to pick up steam for the 2023 Fall season as the Trailblazers host the 2023 VU Fall Invitational at Country Oaks Golf Club in Montgomery Saturday, Sept. 9 and Sunday, Sept. 10. Sophomore Preston Broce (Indianapolis, Ind.) headlined the Trailblazers during the tournament, placing eighth overall after two rounds of one-over par 73, giving him a tournament score of 146. Freshman Alex Nealis (Olney, Ill.) was the next VU scorer, shooting a first round 75 on Saturday and a 77 on Sunday to place 19th overall.
